It’s been a while since I last heard a Jason Payne liveset, but from the last one I’ve heard to now I have been listening to this genuis behind the decks. His previous set has been on my favourite list for a very long time, and I have been enjoying it ever since I first discovered who he was/is. Seeing as this isn’t the first set I’ve heard from him, I do not need to introduce him at all. If you think it’s necessary to find out who he is, what kind of shoes he likes to wear of what kind of sauce he puts on his stuffed chicken at Christmas, click on the above link and it will take you to his personal Facebook fanpage, and there you can find all the necessary stuff. If you are here for the music and not for any other irrevelant things, continue reading, if you can!

As always, if you think of Rawstyle, you think of a music style which has the power to demolish speakers. There are plenty styles around which can demolish speakers, but the rawest (it has to be said) is Rawstyle. And who else do you think of when you hear the word Rawstyle? Exactly, Jason Payne. His last set (which had thousands of plays due to me) was seriously insane, and I can say now in all happiness that he’s back with an awesome mix. As standard it has been released by B2S, and you can not download the set (sadly). But don’t let that be a drawback, let that encourage you to keep going back to B2S’ Soundcloud page and find more awesome sets.

Thankfully someone uploaded a tracklist, so here it is:

After hearing this set entirely I have to say that Jason Payne isn’t just a DJ, he’s a GOD! Christ, this is such an epic mix, it has blown up my speakers, blown off my girlfriend’s knickers, blew off the wallpaper, and probably created a nasty relationship with the whole neighbourhood, but do I care? If you are not into Rawstyle, I am absolutely sorry, but in all honesty, why are you visiting this page/living next to me? Everyone should embrace Rawstyle! It’s stronger than religion!

Jason Payne’s set is flawless. This man knows exactly what to play to seduce the crowd. This man deserves his own stage, his own event, his own clothing line. I am a follower of this man and what he’s capable off behind two decks and a mixer. It doesn’t matter what he plays, there’s no way of stopping him, and thank God for that. Imagine not hearing Jason Payne at a Rawstyle event? Life would be useless.

I’ve listened to it several times, and I simply can not pick one favourite track. They are all amazing! Brutal, fearsome, powerful, raw, rough… just what I wanted to hear. Jason, you sir are a true legend! This set at Loudness, can anyone beat this nastiness? Can anyone be as good as Jason Payne?

Only one score, and let’s invite our friends/neighbours into the wonderful world we know as Rawstyle!

It’s been literally weeks since I last reviewed anything at all. I have had the opportunity to catch up with a lot of new music and also a lot of old CDs I haven’t played out loud for a very long time. As you all might know, I have recently moved country, so there’s a lot of things happening in my life, so I’ve been quite busy. But as we speak, we are about to come back to the reviewing business, and what better way to start with one album from one of my Powerstomp friend DJ Riko! You’ve must seen his album being released a couple of weeks ago, and I reckon you already have a copy?! If you don’t, let me give you a few reasons why!

Riko and his label have been releasing music for quite some time now, and most albums have been for free. But like most things for free, after a while you are not making a single penny and you still want to leave an impression, and actually progress. So here’s his first ‘paid’ album. Support the hard work he has been doing for a while, and buy the music. He has earned it, being one of the few artists keeping the Powerstomp sound alive. Not many seem to believe in it anymore, but Riko still believes in it and pushes it forward. On this album it isn’t just Riko, he also worked with a few well known names and newcomers. A very diverse and interesting album, to say the least.

Time to show you the tracklist. I think it’s about time you feast your eyes on something beautiful!

01. Riko – Secret
02. Riko & M-Project – Finally
03. Riko & Bassline Animals – Wait A Minute
04. Riko vs Nu Flow – The Girl
05. Riko vs Azza – Mash It Up
06. Riko vs Shagg-E feat Jonjo – The Reaper
07. Riko & Hitman – Curse Of The Werewolf
08. Riko vs Skoda – This Is Sparta
09. Riko vs Shagg-E – Psychopath
10. Riko vs Nu Flow – AaaaHhh
11. Riko & E-Voski – The Ouija Board
12. Riko vs Nu Flow – We’re Superstylin’
13. Riko vs Azza – Bounce 2 Tha Beat
14. Riko vs Jaxx – Light It Up
15. Riko & M-Project – Family
16. Riko vs Fish-R – Watch Ya Eyeballs

As usual, Riko delivers awesome music, and on his first proper album the tracks he has made are all awesome! Quality over quantity to be fair. I am happy to say in all honesty that I’m one of those people who thought Riko had it, and kept on supporting him, because we should embrace the fact that he keeps Powerstomp alive and very interesting. This is a must have album!

Even though I’m not a fan of unmixed albums, I would urge you to get this album. Multiple reasons, and I can give 16 reasons why you should go to the HU store now. This is seriously what I was after, and a good album to return to the reviewing business. Expect nothing else than Powerstomp, and if you do, you won’t be disappointed. I know I wasn’t disappointed after listening to this beautiful CD.

What’s my favourite? Well, there are many, but the one that made me bounce and stomp the loudest has got to be ‘This Is Sparta’. Just love the ‘300’ film, and love Gerard Butler’s voice (it is him, isn’t it?). Someone should make a proper ‘300’ film based on the Powerstomp scene with him in it.

A wonderful album. A real must-have, it’s a no-brainer. You can purchase this album for only 10.50 pounds, and I reckon you still have a few pounds on your account. Have a listen to the teasers underneath this review, and after just go straight to the HU store and order it now before it’s sold out. Trust me, this will sell out!

Riko, a wicked album! Congratulations! More albums like this one please!
