Today was one of those days I wanted to hear something rougher and tougher. I found exactly that! Not really as hard as Terror or Speedcore, but still hard enough for my ears and rough enough. I looked at this set on Soundcloud, and immediately pressed play. I had to listen to this, I simply had to, because it’s a set by Warface, which was recorded at Supremacy 2015. Held on the 26th of September 2015, the line-up was insane. Let me just name a few: Radical Redemption, Ran-D, Adaro, Digital Punk, E-Force, Miss K8, Delete VIP, Luna, and more. One event you simply had to witness and visit: no reason for you to stay at home, what’s there to do at home?

I’ve seen Warface’s name fly by every so often, but I know nothing about the artist. I’m not a walking Wikipedia, am I? Or a walking Discogs. Wish I was, so I would use my knowledge to make these reviews more professional. But anyhow, Warface. A name you’ve probably seen/heard before. I haven’t, I left the Netherlands when Rawstyle became huge, and I think that I’ve made a mistake: should have stayed in NL. But we can’t change the past, can we? At least I’ve got the internet and my good ol’ friend mister Soundcloud.

The set is rough and tough, exactly how you like it. Am I lying in saying that? I’m not, am I?

tracklist

16. Warface & Delete – The Baddest
17. Warface – Everlasting Fire

Doesn’t the tracklist look good? If you were looking for a lot of Warface, you don’t need to look any further. I seriously mean it, don’t look no further, this is really all you need on this boring and dreadful Monday afternoon/evening!

There are some amazing tracks in this mix, ‘Warzone’ is truly a wicked track.  ‘Unleash War’… and the list goes on. Warface does bring something unique to the table, and it’s ground breaking. And also speaker breaking, let’s not forget that! Warface does know how to create tracks, and they are very interesting, and they make the ravers loose themselves.

Two tracks aren’t my cup of tea, one of them because there are guitars in it (‘Beyond Aggression’) and the other being that the ‘singing’ bit sounds so off. Kind of ruined the track, but that’s just my opinion, isn’t it?

Favourite track? Simple answer: ‘Mutilate & Destroy’.

All in all an amazing set. This made my body move, and I do mean each fibre in it. I don’t hear Rawstyle sets often, but I should. They keep me going, they do. Warface’s set made my Monday much better, and much more exciting. Sadly no download, but still the ‘press-play’ option. So press play, and don’t waste your precious time!

A couple of weeks ago I was the first to review the latest album being released by Contagious Records, and it was an amazing album to listen to. Progression within the Powerstomp scene can be heard on this album. Quality over quantity, and that’s fair to say about this album. And if you look at who were on the album (artist-wise) you had a few big names : No Sweat, Riko, Chris Fear, Kurt, Joey Riot, and ofcourse the biggest name to come out of the East: M-Project. You all know him and love him, and as always he keeps on making promo mixes for literally everything. A party? Promo mix. A birthday? Promo mix. Had a bath? Promo mix. So obviously he had to do something, to promote the album which has his records on it.

I loved the album, and now you can get a taster of what’s actually on it, if you haven’t bought the album yet. A 33 minute long mix (well, 32 minutes and 9 seconds long, but let’s round it up) with 16 tracks,  all from the album, mixed by the mysterious man himself. Yep, you can expect only snippets from the tracks, not one track is played out long, about 2 minutes max per track. But M-Project is good at that, don’t think that it might disappoint you, because it won’t. And the tracks are really good.

It’s been carefully mixed by the mighty M-Project, so if you are ready to have an amazing Sunday morning, go and press play!

tracklist

01. Kujin-Fu – Breaking (Contagious 170 Mix)
02. Hyper & Electic Beatz – Hands In The Air
03. Jonny El – Ritual
04. Riko vs ACB – Freak On
05. S-WORX & M-Project – Mother F#=ker
06. Chris Fear – Bitches Shake It
07. Kujin-Fu – Ratatata (Contagious 170 Mix)
08. Liqo – Piledriver
09. Kurt vs Psyvex – Time To Fuckin Rock
10. Demize & Bassline Animals – Fuck Dat Hoe
11. No Sweat – Lets Get Down
12. Hyper – Remember The Name
13. Kurt vs Ry-On & Beefy – All Bitches
14. M-Project – Ganjaman
15. Kujin-Fu – Get Back
16. Joey Riot vs Danny R-Core – Ascension

A big tracklist, isn’t it? And I have to say that the music is really, really good! Next level Powerstomp stuff. I really liked the album, but it was a DJ friendly album, so to hear a proper mix for this album just improves everything!

M-Project knows how to produce an amazing mix, and I think I’ve said a billion times before. I don’t need to explain how good he is, or give him bad credit for anything, because there’s nothing wrong with this mix. How can you go wrong with a track like ‘Ritual’ in your mix? You can’t go wrong, you simply can’t. (ps. what a f#=king wicked track, love it to the bone!). Or ‘Piledriver’. Epic, truly epic track.

You still can get this album via the following website: www.djriko.co.uk . Make sure you order one now, unless you don’t love Powerstomp. If you don’t, why are you on here?

This has made my weekend even better. It was already amazing, but now it’s a hundred billion times better. More people should get into Powerstomp. That’s my goal, to persuade as much people as I can. And with promo mixes like this one I will definately get a few new fans into the scene. And also more fans for M-Project. Come on, he deserves it! Epic mix, epic man (or is he not human? can’t tell)….

Do you sometimes feel something in your stomache, and you don’t know what it is? It’s like a hunger, but not for food, but for music. Today I woke up and I was craving Hardcore, but not present day Hardcore, but Oldskool. Not really old old, but more mid-90s Hardcore. And if you are craving for that, you only need to go to Bass-D, this man is deeply in love with that kind of music. Back in 2015 he was asked to play at Vendetta in room 2, alongside artists such as Promo, Panic, Rob & MC Joe, Yves and more. The end result of this event was ‘very good’, and if you have the same lust for mid-90s Hardcore, let this liveset entertain you on this boring Sunday!

As you would expect Bass-D crammed in a few awesome tracks in an hour mix. Not like other mixes I’ve heard, in which he crammed 6879764 tracks in 1 hour, but this will do. 28 tracks, 1 hour, and the finest Hardcore beats flying through your speakers. Yes, they might be the most well known tracks of the 90s, but I still love them to bits. Tracks by Buzz Fuzz, Bodylotion, Tschabos, RTC, Lockjaw and more.

You know, I reckon his collection is seriously impressive. Bass-D always impresses me with every set that he plays. He was one of the earliest DJs in the scene, so his collection must be huge. And it’s good to hear that they are still played out loud.

tracklist

01. Bass-D & King Matthew – In The Mix (Intro Cut)
02. Masoko Solo – Pessa Pessa (Buzzy Goes BZRK Remix)
03. Gizmo – The Guestlist
04. Rotterdam Terror Corps – Horror (Buzzy Fuzz Remix)
05. Ferocious – Everybody Reach To The Top
06. Baba Nation – Paranoia
07. E-Rick & Tactic – We Won’t Stop Rocking
08. Buzz Fuzz – Don’t U Cry
09. Lockjaw – Deep In The Underground
10. Square Dimensione – Brand New Dance
11. OG’s – Tik Tak
12. Molella – Originale Radicale Musicale (Stunned Guys Remix)
13. Buzz Fuzz – Frequencies
14. Turbulence – 6 Millions Ways To Die
15. Omar Santana – Wizard Of Oh
16. Weirdo & Sim – Go Get Busy
17. Isaac – Bass & Sound
18. Buzz Fuzz – Destroyer
19. Phoenix – Who’s In Control
20. Digital Boy – This Is Motherfucker (Stunned Guys Remix)
21. Distortion & MC Raw vs Bass-D & King Matthew – Raveworld Part 2
22. Rotterdam Terror Corps – We’re Gonna Blow Your Mind
23. Rave Creator & The Mover – Atmos Fear
24. The Rizzler – Mashup (Edit)
25. Bodylotion – How Much Can You Take (Catscan Remix)
26. Tschabos – Gib Mir Die Bass
27. The Viper & Mad-E-Fact – Control The Party
28. Hardsequencer – Brain Crash

The tracklist is stunning. Seriously impressive. They don’t make Hardcore like they used to. Look at these tracks, who doesn’t like ‘Gib Mir Die Bass’, or ‘Atmos Fear’, or ‘Frequencies’… the list goes on. Hardcore has changed, I have changed, but I still have the same love, passion and dedication for it.

The tracks Bass-D has selected are amazing! Too many to mention, but my favourites are ‘Gib Mir Die Bass, ‘Brain Crash’, ‘Atmos Fear’, ‘6 Million Ways To Die’… basically everything that has been touched by Marc Arcadipane (I think he was involved in these/wrote these/made these).

Oldskool lovers, eat your heart out. This will change your dreadful and boring Sunday into a wicked one.

There are a few tiny mixing errors. It’s not flawless. I would have expected that Bass-D made no errors whatsoever, but hey, he’s still a human being. And it could have been that he had a few drinks before he jumped behind the decks. Who knows?

A good set, really enjoyed it. Lovely to hear those classic anthems again. Bring back the 90s, I would say!

Soundcloud is filled with billions of mixes. It has to be a billion at least. Which means it’s my kind of heaven. Not many mixes are really liked by me as such, the majority is EDM stuff I really don’t fancy, or mixed really badly, but sometimes you find a mix, and before you press play you already judge the mix by a) the name or b) the artist. In this case I saw the name ‘Mark Archer’ and I immediately assumed that it was an oldskool Rave set, filled with dark and nasty tracks. Oh, how wrong was I? This is the complete opposite. If you were looking for a mix which would astonish you, here it is!

No Oldskool Rave music, but lovely Techno/House music. Calm and sophisticated music, music they only play at clubs where you can’t get a bog standard Coke, but only something in a Martini glass. Clubs where something so normal gets called something so posh (and costs you 10 times more). This music suits this club beautifully. But this isn’t what I was expecting, in all fairness. I would be thinking of Oldskool stuff, so Mark’s mix astonished me once I’ve pressed play. And it was indeed a surprise, but a pleasant surprise.

The tunes he picked are all unknown to me, but once I’ve heard them, they’ve entered my heart forever! Beautiful tracks!

tracklist

01. Gnork – Blorp 93
02. Bakradze – Quiet Loop
03. Bakradze – Pool
04. T. Williams & James Jacob – Lacuna Pursuit
05. Felipe Gordon – Mosaico Andino
06. Books – Thing We Do
07. Badradze – Flight
08. Chaos In The CDB – Midnight In Peckham
09. Giovanni Damico – Joy
10. Haarschnitt – Ion 2a
11. Blutch – Anyoma (Pavane Remix)
12. Gnork – Unreal
13. Emeral City – Gemini Lounge
14. Krato Himself –  See What Eyes See

Do you know any of these names? I’ve never heard of any of them, don’t even know how to pronounce half of them. Gnork? Bakradze? Anyhow, it’s all about the music, and the music…oh… the music is heavenly!

RIOT wrote underneath the mix that the first track was one to listen to, and absorb it. Well, they were right. ‘Blorp 93′ is definately one of the greatest records ever made! So much depth, full of emotions… basically everything you want music to be. This track has blown me away, and I thought that this was the best bit of the mix….

I was wrong. The whole mix is just superb. Quality tunes, and mixed together seemlessly. Nothing to mention which could affect the outcome of this mix, there’s nothing, and I do mean nothing, wrong with this mix. I’ve heard several Mark Archer mixes in the past, and they were all Oldskool mixes, but this tops everything. This is quality over quantity.

I can not point out how awesome these tunes are. ‘Blorp 93’ is just magnificent. But even ‘Gemini Lounge’, or ‘Flight’, or ‘Ion 2a’. You’ve got to hand it to Mark, he knows which tracks to pick, and how to please the listeners.

Yep, it’s a fact. Mark Archer is a God. If you can listen to this mix without shedding a tear, you are inhumane. This will create emotions you haven’t felt in a long time. Breathtaking. Stunning. Excellent!
