It’s been a while since I last heard a proper liveset, and seeing as I’m transferring all previously written reviews onto this new website, I thought it was only right to write a brand new review, regarding a liveset made by TCD’s favourite UK Hardcore duo, Cyber & Giggly. They played at an event called ‘I Love Happy Hardcore’, organised by DJ Billy Daniel Bunter, held in Union Vauxhall, London on the 7th of February 2014. If you were there, you had a brilliant time. If you weren’t, you must feel gutted, because you missed one hell of a party! I couldn’t be there, and after seeing the line-up I was gutted: Billy Bunter, Ramos & Marley, Vibes, Slipmatt, Fat Controller, Backlash B2B Rhythm Master, Strict, Lockey and ofcourse Cyber & Giggly. The roof must have gone up in flames, the building was destroyed for sure!

To reminisce, Cyber & Giggly recorded their liveset. An hour filled with filthy Breakbeat Happy Hardcore tunes, made by the legendary artists such as Sy & Unknown, Red Alert & Mike Slammer, Justin Time and more. There are quite a few unknown tracks on here, and I’m not talking about the artist/DJ Unknown. This sound didn’t emerge in the Netherlands as much as it did in the U.K., we were more into the happier stuff, stuff made by artists such as DJ Paul, Rob, Dyewitness, Dune, Waxweazle, The Prophet and more. Two countries, two different sounds. But it’s never too late to hear new music, even though it’s many years old! 19 years old, to be precise.

Oh, before I forget, have you read Cyber & Giggly’s interview? They answered a couple of questions last years, questions only the Crazy Dutchman could come up with. Make sure you check it out, worth reading (and if you can, share it). Click here for Cyber & Giggly’s interview!

One amazing tracklist! Listening to this mix has given me goosebumps, and the feeling that I haven’t lived enough through the wonderful years many ravers call the 90s. I should have listened to this instead of Captain Jack, Aqua, and all the other rubbish I was into.

Cyber & Giggly’s set is one big one. Flawless, errorless. Well, I found one tiny error, see if you can spot it. I’m not going to give you a clue, it’s up to you to find it. It’s not hard to find, but easy to miss. Picky Dutchman, eh?

Cyber & Giggly, one amazing duo. And that’s why I love whatever they do. They seem to play exactly what I like, and what I’m after (music-wise). Hearing these mesmerizing tunes takes me back, to an unknown period. We had a completely different perspective on Happy Hardcore, and when artists appeared on compilations, they were mostly DJ Dougal and Eruption. No Sy & Unknown, no Red Alert & Mike Slammer. But I do remember Justin Time, not sure if I’ve seen Jason B’s name before, it does ring a bell. But who cares? The music speaks, and it speaks out a lot.

The party must have been immense. I do regret not going to it. When’s the next party?
