The season of excellent events have emerged, and the weather is so good, I reckon wherever you are on God’s given Earth, you are going to have an epic Summer! Especially when you are in a warmer climate, which you can get in Miami. Miami, does it ever rain there? The sunshine is the one thing everyone sees there, from early mornings to late evenings. Last year an event took place, which doesn’t need an introduction: Ultra Music Festival. And one of the acts there (there were so many top notch artists) was Marshmello. One of the quickest growing superstars within the EDM scene. And who it is, I don’t know. He’s one DJ with a lampshade on his head. Or something that looks similar.

Now normally I listen to the harder stuff, from Hardstyle to Hardcore, but today I came across a set by Marshmello. Not knowing much about him, but what I already knew was that he’s a much loved DJ and producer in the ongrowing EDM scene. He plays at every event imaginable, and he also had probably the biggest mannequin challenge crowd the world has ever scene. Or maybe was that Donald Trump big inauguration (where everyone stood still)? Anyhow, he’s big, and he knows it. Everyone on the world wide web seems to love Marshmello, so I thought that today was going to be a good day to hear what this mysterious man has to offer to the world.

Remember, I’m normally not a fan of EDM, it’s all too bouncy and too happy, and sometimes too cheesy. But boy, I was wrong! This might have been recorded back in 2016, but on the 23rd of June 2017 Marshmello’s set made one Dutchman in Luton extremely happy! Smiles for miles, that’s for sure! Let me show you the tracklist, and you will know what I’m talking about!

Now that’s one packed tracklist, and that’s exactly what you can expect once you hear the first beats and bass coming through your speakers! This is seriously insane, I’ve never really heard a proper Marshmello liveset (or mix), but this has seriously blown me away! My brain is so screwed up right now, I need a cold drink to calm myself down!

The quality of the mix isn’t really that good, you can hear the beats and basses, but they are slightly rough. But that could be because it was aired on a radio station, and maybe the quality has gone down a bit. But what comes through your speakers is seriously sickening! The bass (as low as it can go) is penetrating your skull. I reckon that’s why he wears a lampshade, to make sure that the beats do not demolish his DJ skills!

This is a serious set. A pure party pleasing set. Epic tune after epic tune. How this set can change everything is unbelievable! I was a bit tired this morning, and once I’ve pressed play I was alive, and bouncing up and down on my seat. My colleagues looked funny at me, but I was mello, extremely mello!

I love that he jumps from one style to the next with ease. From Hip Hop/Rap to EDM to whatever is on his USB stick/CD/vinyl (don’t know what he uses). He made the event his, with this killer set. He’s all about spreading love and happiness, and during UMF2016 he dominated the dancefloor in Miami.

He immediately appeared on my wishlist of artists I want to see and hear live. If all his sets are this good, I will have a great time. Don’t know when I can or when, because most events are sold out extremely fast or are too far away from me, but one day it will happen!

I loved the diversity. Thanks Marshmello for this epic mix. Sadly I can’t download it, don’t have Spotify. But I’ve got the press play button, and I will play it so often, I alone will be responsible for at least 650.000 plays! One extremely BIG and fat set!

Favourite record? Every one of them. Even the Bieber stuff. I loved every second!

Galantis, a well known name in the EDM world, and they do not need an introduction. But even though I have heard their music before, their background was unknown to me. Turns out they are Swedish, and they already had a huge hit in the Netherlands with ‘Runaway (U & I)’, which appeared on the number 1 spot in the top 40. So there’s more to Sweden than just Ikea… interesting. Nah, I’m just kidding, ofcourse the Swedish have got so much to offer (I drive a Swedish car), but music wise the Swedish are also very succesful. Galantis can be counted as one succesful export product for Sweden. A good product.

Maybe I’ve missed it, and their Dutch Wikipedia page doesn’t mention it, but in many pictures I see cats. Why is that? If there are fans out there who know their pin codes, their shoe sizes, when they had their first kisses, etc, please let me know.

Anyway, back to this liveset. I saw an advert on Facebook about their tour, and after listening to it, the tune hit me hard, and I was wondering if Galantis had a liveset online. After browsing for 20 minutes I found a beautiful set I reckon you’ve already heard (327k+ plays, which is nothing compared to the millions of plays on their single tracks). If you haven’t, I think it’s time for you lot to make this wonderful Sunday the best one ever: light up the BBQ, turn up your speakers, have a few drinks in the fridge, and play this liveset.

01. Galantis – Runaway (U & I)
w/ Galantis – Runaway (U & I) (Kaskade Remix)
w/ Galantis – Runaway (U & I) (Quintino Remix)
02. Ninetoes – Finder (Klardust Remix)
w/ Galantis – Smile (Kaskade Remix)
03. A-Track feat Andrew Wyatt – Push (Cazzette Remix)
w/ Galantis – Friend (Hard Times) (Acappella)
w/ Delayers vs Nari & Milani – Phenomena
w/ KSHMR & DallasK – Burn
04. Chuckie & Diamond Pistols feat Hyper Crush – Bang!
05. Galantis – Help
w/ Galantis – Help (Elephante Remix)
06. DubVision – Spoken
07. Alex Adair – Make Me Feel Better (Don Diablo & CID Remix)
08. Galantis – Peanut Butter Jelly
09. Tujamo & Jacob Plant – All Night
w/ Jay Hardway – Bootcamp
10. Wiwek – Angry Birdz
w/ Galantis – You (Acappella)
11. Galantis – Revolution
12. Laidback Luke feat MC Good Grip – Rocking With The Best (Tujamo Remix)
13. BURNS – In The Back
14. Galantis – Gold Dust
15. Sander Kleinenberg feat Gewn McCrae – Can You Feel It
16. Alex Metric feat Stefan Storm – Heart Weighs A Ton (Galantis vs Alex Metric Remix)
17. Autoerotique & Max Styler – Badman (Intro)
w/ Martin Solveig & GTA – Intoxicated
w/ Mark Ronson feat Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk (Misha K Remix)
18. Keith MacKenzie & DJ Fixx – Puff Puff Pass
19. Galantis – You
20. TJR & VINAI – Bounce Generation
21. Deniz Koyu – Sonic
22. Galantis – Gold Dust (Hook N Sling Remix)
23. Galantis – Runaway (U & I)
w/ Galantis – Runaway (U & I) (Dillon Francis Remix)

The tracklist looks good. A lot of their own productions in here, and you can hear the crowd loosing themselves to the music. Listening to this is intoxicated. I’m liking this a lot.

This is the first time I heard a liveset by Galantis. Yes, I know they play all over the world, but I haven’t heard a set yet. This is the first, and it’s a good one. Quite addictive. I want to push the volume way up, and wave my hands in the air and stomp my feet. I can’t, it’s Sunday morning, but in the afternoon I will.

In all fairness, ‘Runaway’ is their biggest hit, and you can see it several times in this set, be it the original or a remixed version. But to me the catchiest tune is ‘Peanut Butter Jelly’. Sounds a bit like Armand van Helden, his style, his way of making music. And it’s so catchy, you can’t sit still. And also, it makes me crave a peanut butter jelly sandwich. And I want to watch Family Guy for a strange  reason now (if you don’t know, Brian does the dance, check it out).

The set is good, but to hear every so often that it’s broadcasted live and other bits and bobs kind of ruins the atmosphere. Never liked radio broadcasts, always add things which shouldn’t be there.

A very good set. I’m really digging it. Galantis, you’ve got a new fan. Sweden, I must come there. I will drive to Sweden with my Volvo, listening to a Galantis set whilst eating Ikea meatballs. I want to see what Sweden has to offer.

Make this Sunday the best one this year. Not downloadable, but still highly enjoyable. I’m going to see if there are still tickets left for their tour, want to experience Galantis myself, and not via my computer.

I’ve seen the name Yellow Claw passing by on several websites before, heard of them before, but never had the opportunity to see them live of hear a set by them. Only yesterday I found their Soundcloud page, and decided to have a look, to find a mix/liveset with a tracklist, and after browsing for a minute, I found their set from EDC Las Vegas 2014, with a tracklist and it’s also a free download! Many have mentioned that they are extremely hot and that they fill many dancefloors all over the world. Again, never listened to any of their sets before (only know their track ‘Thunder’, and that is all), so this is kinda like my first introduction to the wonderful world of Yellow Claw.

Trap is extremely populair all over the world, and so is Yellow Claw. This Dutch trio started back in 2010, and now in 2016 they are one of the hottest acts money can buy (or book). The set you are about to listen to was recorded at EDC Las Vegas back in 2014, and they blew the roof off. Never seen or heard a liveset by Yellow Claw, I should be prepared for an hour of insane-ness (if that’s actually a word).

The tracklist was provided to us by Yellow Claw, a lot of own productions in it. You should check it out, if you haven’t already. 387k+ listens already, so I reckon you’ve pressed play at least once.

30. Dimitri Vegas & Martin Garrix & Like Mike – Tremor (LNY TNZ Remix)
31. Tiësto feat Matthew Koma – Wasted (Yellow Claw Remix)

A proper tracklist, isn’t it? A lot of their own productions/remixes, and it does sound all well. This will turn this dreadful Sunday into a nice and sunny and relaxing Sunday.

This is my first introduction into the world of Yellow Claw, and I have to say that they keep the crowd entertained from the beginning to the end. From Trap to Hardstyle, they’ve added a lot of music into this hour long set. The crowd looses it completely, as you can hear them in the background screaming as loud as they can. The music is good, liking it a lot, not every track is a good one, but still it keeps me moving.

The best track in this set? I think it’s ‘The Mighty Claw’. A lot of Oldskool rave sounds in one track, being updated to entertain the new and young generation.

I like this set a lot, but there are a few minor issues. The MC keeps on chatting, maybe a bit too much. And the use of the horn button gets a bit annoying after 2 seconds, and if you haven’t listened to this set at all, be prepared to hear that horn all the way through the set.

All in all, a nice introduction. I will go on a hunt to find more sets/mixes by Yellow Claw.

Can’t believe I have never reviewed something made by Tiësto before! It’s amazing, isn’t it? I remember watching him spinning those records back in the early 00s at Innercity. I remember the room being packed to the max, no room for anyone to enter (or actually leave). I remember listening to ‘Tiësto In Concert’ throughout the night, recording it live onto cassettes from radio 3fm. I threw the cassettes away, because I don’t have a player anymore, but still I remember the night like it was yesterday. I also bought several of his albums, I was a huge fan. Why it has taken so long, has got a reason.

The change he made from Progressive House/Trance to EDM wasn’t my favourite decision he has ever made. At first I had to get used to it, and I didn’t feel it. It wasn’t my thing, not my cup of tea. I lost faith, if I am brutally honest. Secretly hoping he would come back to the Trance/Progressive House scene, but he didn’t, he stayed true to his decision, and I do admire him for it, because it has paid off. Look at his Facebook page, look at the events he plays at, look at him, being a superstar DJ. The decision he made was a good one for him, but also for me?

EDM is growing on me, not a 100% fan, but I am getting there. I saw this liveset passing by on Soundcloud and thought I should give it a go. EDC is a huge event we all know off, and Tiësto is well known to me, I want to give him a chance, so here’s the review. And also a tracklist, which comes as a bonus, I would say.

02. ZAXX – ID

27. Tiësto – Red Lights
28. Quintino – Get Low
29. Sandro Silva & Quintino – Epic

The tracklist contains a lot of big names, most of them are know to me. You probably know them all, seeing as you are a huge EDM fan. I’m still a newbie, a noob, and my brain’s already filled with many artists from different genres. But there’s still a tiny space left to add more new names.

The set is really good, but it has it’s moments. One of them being mixing issues. It ain’t a hundred percent tight, but still enjoyable. You might disagree, and it’s your right to have an opinion, but if you listen closely, you notice them too. And the chatting is maybe a bit of a nuisance, the music should speak for itself.

A good set, not Tiësto best set, but in the top 25 of his sets. A nice introduction for me to the new Tiësto. He might play the odd ‘old’ track, but he ain’t going back. Liking it, but not yet loving it. Maybe need to listen more sets, or to his own podcast series.

He still remains one of the best DJs of all time. You can’t take that away from him.
