Galantis, a well known name in the EDM world, and they do not need an introduction. But even though I have heard their music before, their background was unknown to me. Turns out they are Swedish, and they already had a huge hit in the Netherlands with ‘Runaway (U & I)’, which appeared on the number 1 spot in the top 40. So there’s more to Sweden than just Ikea… interesting. Nah, I’m just kidding, ofcourse the Swedish have got so much to offer (I drive a Swedish car), but music wise the Swedish are also very succesful. Galantis can be counted as one succesful export product for Sweden. A good product.

Maybe I’ve missed it, and their Dutch Wikipedia page doesn’t mention it, but in many pictures I see cats. Why is that? If there are fans out there who know their pin codes, their shoe sizes, when they had their first kisses, etc, please let me know.

Anyway, back to this liveset. I saw an advert on Facebook about their tour, and after listening to it, the tune hit me hard, and I was wondering if Galantis had a liveset online. After browsing for 20 minutes I found a beautiful set I reckon you’ve already heard (327k+ plays, which is nothing compared to the millions of plays on their single tracks). If you haven’t, I think it’s time for you lot to make this wonderful Sunday the best one ever: light up the BBQ, turn up your speakers, have a few drinks in the fridge, and play this liveset.

The tracklist looks good. A lot of their own productions in here, and you can hear the crowd loosing themselves to the music. Listening to this is intoxicated. I’m liking this a lot.

This is the first time I heard a liveset by Galantis. Yes, I know they play all over the world, but I haven’t heard a set yet. This is the first, and it’s a good one. Quite addictive. I want to push the volume way up, and wave my hands in the air and stomp my feet. I can’t, it’s Sunday morning, but in the afternoon I will.

In all fairness, ‘Runaway’ is their biggest hit, and you can see it several times in this set, be it the original or a remixed version. But to me the catchiest tune is ‘Peanut Butter Jelly’. Sounds a bit like Armand van Helden, his style, his way of making music. And it’s so catchy, you can’t sit still. And also, it makes me crave a peanut butter jelly sandwich. And I want to watch Family Guy for a strange  reason now (if you don’t know, Brian does the dance, check it out).

The set is good, but to hear every so often that it’s broadcasted live and other bits and bobs kind of ruins the atmosphere. Never liked radio broadcasts, always add things which shouldn’t be there.

A very good set. I’m really digging it. Galantis, you’ve got a new fan. Sweden, I must come there. I will drive to Sweden with my Volvo, listening to a Galantis set whilst eating Ikea meatballs. I want to see what Sweden has to offer.

Make this Sunday the best one this year. Not downloadable, but still highly enjoyable. I’m going to see if there are still tickets left for their tour, want to experience Galantis myself, and not via my computer.

I’ve seen the name Yellow Claw passing by on several websites before, heard of them before, but never had the opportunity to see them live of hear a set by them. Only yesterday I found their Soundcloud page, and decided to have a look, to find a mix/liveset with a tracklist, and after browsing for a minute, I found their set from EDC Las Vegas 2014, with a tracklist and it’s also a free download! Many have mentioned that they are extremely hot and that they fill many dancefloors all over the world. Again, never listened to any of their sets before (only know their track ‘Thunder’, and that is all), so this is kinda like my first introduction to the wonderful world of Yellow Claw.

Trap is extremely populair all over the world, and so is Yellow Claw. This Dutch trio started back in 2010, and now in 2016 they are one of the hottest acts money can buy (or book). The set you are about to listen to was recorded at EDC Las Vegas back in 2014, and they blew the roof off. Never seen or heard a liveset by Yellow Claw, I should be prepared for an hour of insane-ness (if that’s actually a word).

The tracklist was provided to us by Yellow Claw, a lot of own productions in it. You should check it out, if you haven’t already. 387k+ listens already, so I reckon you’ve pressed play at least once.

30. Dimitri Vegas & Martin Garrix & Like Mike – Tremor (LNY TNZ Remix)
31. Tiësto feat Matthew Koma – Wasted (Yellow Claw Remix)

A proper tracklist, isn’t it? A lot of their own productions/remixes, and it does sound all well. This will turn this dreadful Sunday into a nice and sunny and relaxing Sunday.

This is my first introduction into the world of Yellow Claw, and I have to say that they keep the crowd entertained from the beginning to the end. From Trap to Hardstyle, they’ve added a lot of music into this hour long set. The crowd looses it completely, as you can hear them in the background screaming as loud as they can. The music is good, liking it a lot, not every track is a good one, but still it keeps me moving.

The best track in this set? I think it’s ‘The Mighty Claw’. A lot of Oldskool rave sounds in one track, being updated to entertain the new and young generation.

I like this set a lot, but there are a few minor issues. The MC keeps on chatting, maybe a bit too much. And the use of the horn button gets a bit annoying after 2 seconds, and if you haven’t listened to this set at all, be prepared to hear that horn all the way through the set.

All in all, a nice introduction. I will go on a hunt to find more sets/mixes by Yellow Claw.

Can’t believe I have never reviewed something made by Tiësto before! It’s amazing, isn’t it? I remember watching him spinning those records back in the early 00s at Innercity. I remember the room being packed to the max, no room for anyone to enter (or actually leave). I remember listening to ‘Tiësto In Concert’ throughout the night, recording it live onto cassettes from radio 3fm. I threw the cassettes away, because I don’t have a player anymore, but still I remember the night like it was yesterday. I also bought several of his albums, I was a huge fan. Why it has taken so long, has got a reason.

The change he made from Progressive House/Trance to EDM wasn’t my favourite decision he has ever made. At first I had to get used to it, and I didn’t feel it. It wasn’t my thing, not my cup of tea. I lost faith, if I am brutally honest. Secretly hoping he would come back to the Trance/Progressive House scene, but he didn’t, he stayed true to his decision, and I do admire him for it, because it has paid off. Look at his Facebook page, look at the events he plays at, look at him, being a superstar DJ. The decision he made was a good one for him, but also for me?

EDM is growing on me, not a 100% fan, but I am getting there. I saw this liveset passing by on Soundcloud and thought I should give it a go. EDC is a huge event we all know off, and Tiësto is well known to me, I want to give him a chance, so here’s the review. And also a tracklist, which comes as a bonus, I would say.

tracklist

02. ZAXX – ID

23. Tiësto – Adagio For Strings

25. Tiësto – ID
26. Laidback Luke & Swedish House Mafia feat Deborah Cox – Leave The World Behind (JayKode Remix)
27. Tiësto – Red Lights
28. Quintino – Get Low
29. Sandro Silva & Quintino – Epic

The tracklist contains a lot of big names, most of them are know to me. You probably know them all, seeing as you are a huge EDM fan. I’m still a newbie, a noob, and my brain’s already filled with many artists from different genres. But there’s still a tiny space left to add more new names.

The set is really good, but it has it’s moments. One of them being mixing issues. It ain’t a hundred percent tight, but still enjoyable. You might disagree, and it’s your right to have an opinion, but if you listen closely, you notice them too. And the chatting is maybe a bit of a nuisance, the music should speak for itself.

A good set, not Tiësto best set, but in the top 25 of his sets. A nice introduction for me to the new Tiësto. He might play the odd ‘old’ track, but he ain’t going back. Liking it, but not yet loving it. Maybe need to listen more sets, or to his own podcast series.

He still remains one of the best DJs of all time. You can’t take that away from him.

Calvin Harris – Live At EDC Las Vegas 2014

If you haven’t been near a computer for at least a month or six, I do understand that you are not aware that there’s a wonderful liveset on Soundcloud by the legendary Calvin Harris, which was recorded at EDC Las Vegas last year. Over 4 million listeners already, this is probably one of the most heard livesets on Soundcloud. And do you know why? Because Calvin Harris was behind the decks (as you can tell by looking at the picture above), and also that it was recorded at EDC, probably the biggest event in the world. Organised all over the world, it’s an experience you have to witness at least once in your lifetime. The tickets were a bit expensive (from 400 dollars), but if you look at the line-up, it’s worth every penny. 39 thousands music lovers went to Las Vegas, and had the time of their lives. 3 days of madness, hunderds of world class artists, what else do you want?

Well, some might wonder if the event is any good (if they haven’t heard of it before). If you listen to Calvin Harris’ set, you hear the thousands of ravers, dancing the night away. Another thing you might notice straight away, is that Calvin was a bit raucous. I don’t know if it’s the correct word, but Google was so kind to translate the Dutch word. He was a bit raucous, but don’t let that bring you down: it’s all about the music. Being raucous can also mean that he gave his all during his set! And his set is good, jam packed with amazing dancefloor smashers, his well known tracks do fly by, and the crowd loves it. Every opportunity for them to sing was used. The crowd went mental, and danced the night away. Calvin Harris was their God, and every raver did what he wanted them to do. The result is an amazing liveset you can download for free right now.

If you don’t know who Calvin Harris is.. well, you need to stand in the naughty corner, and whilst being there, Google his name and you will instantaneously know why you are a bit dumb. He’s one of the world’s greatest producers, with several top 40 hits. He’s been on fire for many years, and judging the crowd, everyone seems to love what he does.

Tracklist anyone?

Jesus, Why are so many artists doing mashups? I wish copy pasting was made much easier. Typing the whole tracklist has made my fingers go mad. And I also had to go from one site to the next, seeing as there isn’t a full tracklist available on one website, I found the near completed tracklist by adding bits from one site to another. One track remains unknown, or the artists name could be ID?

The liveset is excellent, nothing to add. Calvin Harris made sure that the people in Las Vegas had a brilliant night out, and if you have downloaded it already, this is going straight to your ‘favourite mixes’ list on your iPod or whatever device you have.

The tracks he has selected are all good. Is there anything wrong with this set? Well, not really. It’s for free, packed with awesome music. I have to be honest and have to mention that there’s nothing wrong with Calvin Harris’ set at EDC. And that’s why he’s one of the best producers/DJs in the world.

The best track in this set? There are two: ‘Animals’ is good, the original is quite annoying thanks to overkill on the radio, but this version makes the track worth while again. The second track is ‘Brainstorm’ by Calvin Harris and ID. Or is it ‘Ravestorm’ as some suggested? Who cares what the title is, the track is banging, right up my alley! This is what makes me happy to be alive right now and not 50 years ago: imagine a world with EDM?

Calvin Harris is a boss, and he knows it. If you haven’t, make sure you download this rather amazing set. Is this the best set of 2014? To me it is!
