Another mix got sent to me the other week, and sadly due to work and many other things I were not able to listen to this until this morning. I talked to Miss Monument and said to her that I was going to review this mix, but obviously I had to listen to it first, and what most people do, is see if it’s car worthy. This means that a mix should be ready for a journey to wherever, and the windows down, volume up, and making you move (and if you’ve got a bad ass speakersystem in your car, the car too!). My car ain’t that big, and the system is standard, but still this mix made me (and the car) bounce!

I know sadly nothing about Miss Monument, but what I can say is that she has uploaded a wicked mix! Recently I’ve been pulled back into the Breakbeat scene: yesterday reviewed the Mr. Ripley album, and today this mix. Breakbeat has always been good to me, and the music has made me rave so hard, the blisters are still underneath my feet. But the tracks she uses are different compared to the usual Breakbeat I listen to. More EDM-ish, more upbeat, more fresher and cooler!

I must look Miss Monument up after this review (and so should you), but for now let’s focus on the mix, shall we?

01. DJ Icey – Bad Company (Original Mix)
02. Strongbass – Mother Fucker (Original Mix)
03. Strongbass – Royal Drug (Original Mix)
04. Nosk – Back (Original Mix)
05. Colombo & Jason Brown – Take Control (Original Mix)
06. Kid Panel – That Body (Original Mix)
07. Koba – Wassup! (Original Mix)
08. Strongbass – Bass Fucking (Original Mix)
09. Underground Utopia – Put It Down (Jiro Remix)
10. Nosk – Camorra (Guau Remix)
11. Paket – Missing Out (Original Mix)
12. Strange Rollers – The Dark (Original Mix)
13. DNCH – Golem (Original Mix)
14. Tcube Projects & Dmoney – Yeah (Slip187 Remix)
15. Cut The Midrange – Cider Fecks (Original Mix)
16. Alt-A – Encore (WAVEWHORE Remix)

I can say in all honesty that I don’t know a single artist in this mix at all, never seen the names before in my life. That doesn’t make the mix less interesting, because I normally never look at the tracklist before I listen to the mix. But it makes it more intruiging, doesn’t it?

I’ve had a proper listen to this mix, and I can come straight to the conclusion: this is car worthy! This has made my morning and afternoon journey more pleasant! Even though the tracks were unknown and the artists and Miss Monument, it still rocked hard! Breakbeat came through my speakers, and I reckon those people next to me in the traffic jam liked it too!

Surprised to say the least: a very good and sexy sounding mix. Tiny mix errors, but they are not even worth mentioning. But what should be the focus of this mix: the music. It’s seriously good! The flow is continuous, and the energy is non-stoppable! You simply can’t stop listening to it, and enjoying it. Miss Monument has made one cracking Breakbeat mix, one that goes into my books as being ‘awesome’.

Let the sunshine come through your windows, lower them, put the music on loud, and enjoy it. Thanks Miss Monument, you’ve made a mix so good, it stands tall like Nelson’s column (get it, monument, column?). Anyway, get it now while it’s still hot! And I’m talking about this mix.

Best record? The first one. Simple. Because it’s dope, seriously dope!

It’s that time of the year again: promo mixes are thrown at us like sweets at Halloween. More mixes are uploaded during the darker days of the year, due to the fact that most DJs and producers are back in the studios. The Summer has ended, and for once I’m happy: the heat was killing me. Also the tunes being released killed me (some in a good way, some in a bad way). Time for some new music, and I think I found a very nice mix you should all listen to, if you like Oldskool being updated to the present day. The Flashback Project is a project (duh) focussed on bringing the Breaks to the masses, using a lot of Oldskool tunes, updating them to the present year. You will know bits and bobs in each tunes once you’ve pressed play.

The Flashback Project a.k.a. Flash Cats (isn’t that some kind of meme?) has been delivering music via Soundcloud for quite a while, and I’ve been reviewing his music for the same length of time, and I’ve been drawn to his music from the moment I heard a Flashback/Flash Cats mix for the first time. This man has a passion, and it’s quite contagious. Not many artists keep the Oldskool sound alive, maybe make one or two tunes and that’s it, but Flashback isn’t one of those artists. Check his other mixes if you don’t believe me!

I was actually planning on writing a review on his September mix, but then this mix was released. So, to be a bit up to date, I decided to give this mix a go. Is it worth writing so many words?

01. Flash Cats – Love Begins
02. Zedd & Grey – Adrenaline (Otter’s Lit Af Re-Dub)
03. Flash Cats – Light Up
04. DJ Hybrid – Get Hype
05. DJ Fixx – Drizzle
06. Flash Cats – Get Ready
07. Adam F – Circles (Nixon vs TobyONE Re-fix)
08. Dee – Takeshi
09. Flash Cats vs D’Silva – Make Some Noise

If you’ve got a good sound system at home, or in your car, press play right now! The music will demolish your car/house, which is always a good thing!

The mix is carefully made by The Flashback Project, and it contains 9 amazing tracks! This has made me smile from ear to ear, and it’s been a while since I last heard a proper Breaks mix. It’s such an underrated sound, people like it a lot, but not a lot is being produced/mixed. Thank you The Flashback Project for uploading this amazing mix!

Anything bad about this mix? Erm… not hing if I’m honest. I tried to find something to moan about, but that’s simply impossible: this mix is just perfect.

What’s my favourite track? ‘Love Begins’ is a quality anthem, got piano bits in it! Who doesn’t want to hear that?

Check out The Flashback Project on Soundcloud and on Facebook, and indulge yourself into his world of music. Let me warn you: once you indulge yourself, you will become addicted! The music is just too damn good.

5 months ago I reviewed a mix made by DJ Inspector Sands, and it was a promo mix for his upcoming album, which is called ‘Can’t Stop’. Back then it got a good review, the tracks were excellent, but it was 5 months ago. Only a couple of days ago I received another promo mix for his album, this time made by DJ Remixx. The album will be released this month, and to get everyone’s attention DJ Remixx made a nice promo mix, showcasing what people can expect when the album is released.

The previous mix was a showcase, and so is this mix. His album will be released on the 25th of July, and you can already pre-order your copy. For only 10 pounds you can get this mighty Breakbeat Hardcore album. As I said in the previous review a couple of years ago Inspector Sands send me a track via Twitter, and I was immediately hooked to it. Now many years later his album is coming out, and I can only say that it’s going to be massive. Not only are the tracks made by himself, he also has a few well known producers remixing tracks, let me name them: Fracus & Darwin, Luna-C, Chriss Ross and CLSM. You know the album is going to be huge when you’ve got these well known (and much loved) artists remixing your tracks.

Tracklist? You do want to see the tracklist.

01. Zedd – Stay The Night (CLSM & Inspector Sands Remix)
02. Inspector Sands – What A Rush
03. Inspector Sands – Feel The Heat (Exclusive Album Mix)
04. Inspector Sands – Lay My Beatz
05. Inspector Sands – Did I Dream
06. Inspector Sands – Hard Daze (KFA Version) (Album Version Differs)
07. Inspector Sands – Rippin Up Showz (Dubplate Intro Mix)
08. Inspector Sands – I Call Your Name (Original Mix)
09. Inspector Sands – I Call Your Name (Fracus & Darwin Remix)
10. Inspector Sands – Can’t Stop
11. Inspector Sands – Can’t Stop (Luna-C Remix)
12. Inspector Sands – You Think You Know Me
13. Inspector Sands – Motivader
14. Inspector Sands – Superfly
15. Inspector Sands – Superfly (Chris Ross Remix)

A very tasty looking tracklist. I have to say that his first album is going to be a very big one. The tracks are all amazing (well, one isn’t really my cup of tea, but I’ll tell you in a minute why), and this mix by DJ Remixx is very tight. A good promo mix for a truly outstanding album.

Which track grabbed my attention? ‘Can’t Stop’, remixed by Luna-C. Which didn’t grab my attention? ‘Can’t Stop’, the original version. It’s funny how Luna-C made the least favourite track of the album the dopest one! My God, that remix is tight! It captures the Breakbeat Hardcore past and present. Really digging the remix, not the original. Also digging ‘Motivader’, cool piano section. If you don’t like pianos, please leave now.

This promo mix is really good, really liking the vibes it generates. Inspector Sands is a name you should look out for, and also order his album. Not many Breakbeat Hardcore are being released lately, but when they do, they are game changers, and in this case it will be one that will grab our attention. Inspector Sands, you are a hero!

More Breakbeat Hardcore. More Inspector Sands. More of both!

A couple of years ago someone followed me on Twitter and sent me a link to one of his records, which sounded awesome. His name was Inspector Sands, a new name in the Breakbeat Hardcore world. A few days ago I found a brand new mix on his Soundcloud page, a promo mix for his first album, which is called ‘Can’t Stop’. The mix is free, you won’t have to spend a single penny, but I reckon when the album is out, it won’t be for free (the album). But for now you can get very happy, because who doesn’t like to hear a Breakbeat Hardcore mix on this wonderful day, which is known all over the world as Valentine’s Day.

To be honest, I don’t know much about Inspector Sands. He isn’t a real inspector, that’s for sure (and it’s written under his bio section on Soundcloud). It’s even written on his Facebook fanpage, and that’s all we know. If you know any more, please let us know. The one thing we do know, is that he likes Breakbeat Hardcore. And that he’s got an album coming out very soon. The promo mix was dedicated to his upcoming album, and it’s worth checking out. 12 awesome tracks crammed into a 44 minute long promo mix.

You should check out this tracklist, because it looks good. Even though we do not have a clue who Inspector Sands is or what he stands for, this is a must have! And if you are liking this, make sure you get his album, which will be out…soon, I guess? No release date mentioned on Soundcloud.

01. Inspector Sands – Motivader
02. Inspector Sands – Superfly
03. Inspector Sands – Hard Daze
04. Inspector Sands – Did I Dream
05. Inspector Sands – Lay My Beatz
06. Inspector Sands – Rippin Up Showz
07. Inspector Sands – I Call Your Name
08. Inspector Sands – What A Rush
09. Inspector Sands – Dance
10. Inspector Sands – Feel The Heat
11. Inspector Sands – Can’t Stop
12. Inspector Sands – You Think You Know Me

The tracklist looks good, and the tracks all sound amazing! Not many Breakbeat Hardcore mixes are being uploaded onto Soundcloud, even though the sound has got a huge following! It’s time for Breakbeat Hardcore to be taken serious again, and it’s time for it to make a proper comeback. With a mix like this one people will take it serious again. You should!

There are so many great anthems jamned into this 44 minute mix, and they are amazing. Why not treat yourself to something you actually want to hear this Valentine’s Day? Yes, getting flowers, cards, sexy toys etc can be quite fun, but a proper Breakbeat Hardcore mix, that’s what we want!

Best track? The first. Why? Well, it sets the tone for the rest of this mix, and it has Darth Vader in it, the leader of us all! You can improve any track by adding a Star Wars character. Try it, it will work.

There’s only one track I didn’t like, which is the track with the same name as the title of his album, ‘Can’t Stop’. Seems out of place, too much vocals. Not my cup of tea. Maybe it’s just me, but I like Breakbeat Hardcore a bit less vocally. Could be just me.

This mix is very good, and the album will be awesome (whenever it will be released). Check out it, share it, and rave away! Let no-one stop you, dance the night away! What else is there to do? Watch OFAH? Nah, pick this and you will have a wonderful evening, much more entertaining than OFAH.
