Yesterday I found a mix I would not have found, if I didn’t go and browse the living daylight out of Soundcloud. I was looking for something unique, fresh, and something I haven’t reviewed before, and I found it. You might be thinking of something unique and no-one has ever heard before, but it’s not that unique. It’s oldskool Trance/Techno. And I’m talking about Trance music before it took over the world and became a huge success. It was big in the 90s, but it exploded during the early 00s, and the shape it’s in nowadays isn’t the same like these early tunes. This is the music I grew up with and loved to the bone: I bought literally every music compilation which was focussed on Trance music. And yes, I even went through a phase when Hardcore wasn’t exciting enough, and Trance took over.

This mix can not be downloaded, even though it’s written underneath the mix. Could be that this mix is 4 years old, and the pages you are sent to don’t excist anymore. Which is a pity, in all fairness, because these are the tunes I am after. This has sparked my enthusiasm for early Trance tunes again, and I will go through my collection again, listen to those magical anthems which took the world by storm.

I know absolutely nothing about the DJ, never seen his name before. Maybe he’s just an enthusiastic person who loves to compose mixes, sharing his passion for it. But I can’t say anything else, because I know nothing else. Let’s focus on the mix and the tracklist, eh?

tracklist

01. DJ Quicksilver – Cosmophobia
02. Fridge – Paradise (Nu-Gray Mix)
03. Arpeggiators – Freedom Of Expression (DJ Scot Project Remix)
04. Pulsedriver – Kiss That Sound
05. Plug & Play – Parade 2000
06. Aquaplex Meets Junk Project – Brightness
07. Dejure – Sanctuary
08. Liquid – Nebular B
09. The Olmec Heads – Spiritualised
10. Pulser – Cloudwalking
11. M-Traxx – Summer Love
12. Yves Deruyter – Feel Free
13. Junk Project – Control
14. Cascade – Transcend (Moonman’s Trancendental Flight Remix)
15. Tom Stevens – Outface 2000 (Fridge Remix)
16. The Olmec Heads – Lift Off
17. Parker & Clind – Cosmos
18. Breeder – Twilo Thunder (Stoked Up Mix)
19. Prototype – Sound Piercing
20. Chrome & Price – Automatic (Hitch Hiker & Dumondt Mix)
21. Megamind – Taub (Picotto Mix)
22. Joshua Ryan – Pistolwhip
23. Plastic Angel – Enter The Darkroom (Club Mix)

See, this tracklist is awesome! This takes me back, way back. Back when Trance was new and refreshing. Nowadays it’s a bit bland. That’s why I like to hear mixes like this one.

Don’t know what this mix has got to do with Helter Skelter, and the Technodrome? This ain’t Techno, to be precise. Maybe they played this at Helter Skelter, I don’t know, sadly I’ve never been. But if they did, it must have been an experience of a lifetime, because the music is simply epic!

So many great anthems in here, it’s astonishing to think these tracks have stood the test of time, yet you don’t hear them often anymore. You’ve got to look closely to find them, and when you do, it’s in mixes like this one. Don’t know why the oldskool Trance doesn’t get as much airtime anymore. I do miss it.

This is really an interesting mix. Sadly can’t download it, but you can feel the music coming through your speakers, and the music is good. Maybe a few tiny mixing errors, but it’s still highly enjoyable. Sit back, and enjoy!

Which track is the best? ‘Taub’. It’s filth, that’s what it is!

Soundcloud is filled with billions of mixes. It has to be a billion at least. Which means it’s my kind of heaven. Not many mixes are really liked by me as such, the majority is EDM stuff I really don’t fancy, or mixed really badly, but sometimes you find a mix, and before you press play you already judge the mix by a) the name or b) the artist. In this case I saw the name ‘Mark Archer’ and I immediately assumed that it was an oldskool Rave set, filled with dark and nasty tracks. Oh, how wrong was I? This is the complete opposite. If you were looking for a mix which would astonish you, here it is!

No Oldskool Rave music, but lovely Techno/House music. Calm and sophisticated music, music they only play at clubs where you can’t get a bog standard Coke, but only something in a Martini glass. Clubs where something so normal gets called something so posh (and costs you 10 times more). This music suits this club beautifully. But this isn’t what I was expecting, in all fairness. I would be thinking of Oldskool stuff, so Mark’s mix astonished me once I’ve pressed play. And it was indeed a surprise, but a pleasant surprise.

The tunes he picked are all unknown to me, but once I’ve heard them, they’ve entered my heart forever! Beautiful tracks!

tracklist

01. Gnork – Blorp 93
02. Bakradze – Quiet Loop
03. Bakradze – Pool
04. T. Williams & James Jacob – Lacuna Pursuit
05. Felipe Gordon – Mosaico Andino
06. Books – Thing We Do
07. Badradze – Flight
08. Chaos In The CDB – Midnight In Peckham
09. Giovanni Damico – Joy
10. Haarschnitt – Ion 2a
11. Blutch – Anyoma (Pavane Remix)
12. Gnork – Unreal
13. Emeral City – Gemini Lounge
14. Krato Himself –  See What Eyes See

Do you know any of these names? I’ve never heard of any of them, don’t even know how to pronounce half of them. Gnork? Bakradze? Anyhow, it’s all about the music, and the music…oh… the music is heavenly!

RIOT wrote underneath the mix that the first track was one to listen to, and absorb it. Well, they were right. ‘Blorp 93′ is definately one of the greatest records ever made! So much depth, full of emotions… basically everything you want music to be. This track has blown me away, and I thought that this was the best bit of the mix….

I was wrong. The whole mix is just superb. Quality tunes, and mixed together seemlessly. Nothing to mention which could affect the outcome of this mix, there’s nothing, and I do mean nothing, wrong with this mix. I’ve heard several Mark Archer mixes in the past, and they were all Oldskool mixes, but this tops everything. This is quality over quantity.

I can not point out how awesome these tunes are. ‘Blorp 93’ is just magnificent. But even ‘Gemini Lounge’, or ‘Flight’, or ‘Ion 2a’. You’ve got to hand it to Mark, he knows which tracks to pick, and how to please the listeners.

Yep, it’s a fact. Mark Archer is a God. If you can listen to this mix without shedding a tear, you are inhumane. This will create emotions you haven’t felt in a long time. Breathtaking. Stunning. Excellent!

These last couple of days have been quite difficult for me. I really wanted to quit reviewing. I don’t know what caused it, but I wasn’t happy. I wanted to terminate my blog permanently, but before I did, I wanted to know if anyone agreed with my opinion. Clearly they persuaded me to continue, unless I was unhappy doing reviewing. I wasn’t. So I was drawn back into the wonderful world of reviewing, and have I got a mix you should listen to! One of the greatest mixes ever made! And that’s not something I say often (I do say it every couple of months, but thankfully not every week, otherwise my job would be boring!).

The latest mix you can find on the world’s greatest reviewing website (ahum…) is made by DJ Louk. And after a.. let’s say a weird moment in my reviewing life.. it’s good to start with such a smashing mix. It gave me faith in what I was doing, and why people should actually listen to what I’ve got to say!

DJ Louk is a DJ I’ve been following for quite a while, and he has made good mixes, but his latest promo mix (promoting his own skills obviously) is one epic mix! This is how I want to hear a Techno mix! In all fairness: I’ve been listening to a lot of Techno mixes by the greatest DJs on God’s given Earth, but no mix can compete to this! And even though it’s a bold claim by someone who’s got no skills whatsoever… but it’s the truth!

This is how a mix should sound like. Beginning DJs, learn from this! This is beautiful, magical, pure music. Quality!

There you go. A jam packed tracklist, with a beautiful mix attached to it. This is a nice package you need to download now, because you won’t find anything this good on Soundcloud!

I’ve had journeys to and from work, and they’ve been pleasant to say the least. This has been so good, this made me want to stop on the motorway, get out of the car and start raving, putting my hands in the air, and giving it all I’ve got. Seriously, this is why I do reviewing: to find those hidding jewels and share them with same minded people!

Louk had created this epic and beautiful mix, and it has entertained me from the first to the last second. Even the ending is so good: always end with a very relaxing and mellow-kind of track. And that’s what he did. And what he put in between the first and the last second is just beyond belief!

My favourite track…. that’s a no brainer! ‘I Hate Models – Daydream’. Someone called this the tune of 2016, but that’s not enough credit: this should be the tune of the decade! If you are into NASA and space exploration like I am, this is the tune you expect to hear whenever you listen to a documentary! This, to me, is the essence of not only Techno but also Acid House. If this doesn’t move you internally, you are a non-music lover. Get off this planet.

‘Daydream’… I can talk about this track forever and ever. Louk, great choice, putting this in your already smashing mix!

Louk should be praised for this mix. Seriously good, and a good representation of what the scene has to offer. And the offer today…. is LOUK!

It’s been nearly 2 years since I last heard a Mark Neenan mix! Can you believe it? I thought it was shorter than 2 years, but I looked it up, and I was amazed! Well, those 2 years have flown by, in all fairness. If you are a Techno lover like yours truly, you don’t need to worry: there’s a new mix you should listen to. It’s Mark Neenan’s Filthcast 0.3. I’ve missed the previous 2 episodes, but not to worry: I will haunt them down and download them too. I could write a review about 3 episodes, but seeing as it’s Sunday morning and I’m easily distrac…. hey, there’s a bird flying around my car!

Let’s focus on this mix, Mark Neenan’s latest mix. A nice Techno mix with 22 amazing tracks by artists I’ve never heard of before. I was looking for that, seeing as it’s quite miserable outside and foggy. You don’t want to listen to anything else besides Techno on a Sunday morning, and this mix has got exactly what you need. The mix is tight, as you would expect from Mark Neenan.

You should check the tracklist out!

tracklist

03. Geistech – Triton
04. The Hacker – Polonium 210

10. Vegim – Antihuman (Stevie Wilson Remix)
11. Absent – 1st Reason 4 Mindfuck
12. Natascha – Red Wasn’t My Plan
13. Monoline – A Certain Death
14. TWIST3D – Black Sugar (Two Times Four Mix)
15. Boris Brenecki – Transit System
16. Mono Voice – Protokoll (D.A.V.E. The Drummer Remix)
17. Kleen Kutz & Rivet Spinners – Trauma (Section One Remix)

19. Mark Sherry & Gene Karz – Spacewarp (Darmec Remix )
20. Pablo Caballero – Then
21. SynnyS – Brute Factor
22. Scenedrone – 14

See, this tracklist might be beautiful to you, but to me it’s like looking at a book with only Latin words in it: not having a clue. In this case I do not have a clue who the artists are at all, but one thing I do have to mention is the quirkiness of the titles! ‘1st Reason 4 Mindfuck’? ‘Red Wasn’t My Plan’? ‘As Faraday Built His Cage’? That’s a definate LOL.

Mark Neenan has made yet another amazing mix. Tight when it comes to the mixing, it’s been perfect from the first to the last second. A very mellow yet quite dark mix, the tunes he has selected are really mindblowing! They take you to another level, a level you have never felt before. And on this boring Sunday morning, as I said before, you don’t want to hear anything else besides Techno, and this is the right mix for you!

Erm, I always have to mention one little error. But I can’t find any. Sorry.

Download this mix and the previous two episodes too! They are still on Soundcloud, so grab them while you can. They might disappear and after they were taken off, you are regretting not downloading them! Get the Filthcast now!
