It’s been quite some time since I last heard and reviewed a DJ Q mix, it must have been at least a year ago! The world wide web offers everything for us music lovers, and after browsing for minutes (not hours), I found an old mix, made by DJ Q, a mix he made for Blast back in 2012. This was a promo mix for an event which was held on the 7th of December 2012, and it’s a free download, so if you were looking for an excellent mix filled with Bassline and 4×4 tunes, don’t look no further, this is the mix you were looking for! It’s made by DJ Q for God’s sake!

DJ Q is a legend. A world famous DJ and producer who has inspired many up and coming artists, and he gave us hours of excellent music when he had his own show on BBC Radio 1, Back in 2004 he was given the opportunity to showcase his strength, and immediately became the youngest DJ at 1Xtra, hosting his own show for many years. He changed radio stations and now he’s a resident DJ on Ministry Of Sound Radio, with his monthly show. This man did not just play live on the air, he also played all over the world, from Russia to America, from the Netherlands to Italy, he has seen the world and played in front of thousands of people. He also releases amazing tunes, and his most famous track ever (alongside MC Bonez) hit the UK charts back in 2008, the track I’m talking about is ‘You Wot’.

After discovering Bassline music back in 2008, I looked on the web for music, and was drawn towards DJ Q’s radio show on BBC 1Xtra. His shows always entertained me a lot, and from that moment on I became addicted to DJ Q. Not like a drug addict, but more like a music freak. He gave Bassline music a platform, and people seemed to love his enthusiasm and passion for the music. The fans reaction to his music inspired him to release his debut album back in 2013,  called ‘Ineffable’, which received mixed reviews. Maybe it’s a review I might do in the near future (if there are still copies left?)? This man has given his all to the UK Garage scene, and when the people at Blast asked him to make a promo mix, they didn’t knew that he was going to send them a fanf**kingtastic mix back! The result is astonishing, beautiful from the beginning to the end. From oldskool Bassline tunes to brandspanking new tunes to his own productions, it’s all in here. (when I say brandspanking new… it was new back in 2012, now it’s 2 years old).

The tracklist is gorgeous. The perfect mix to start your weekend with, isn’t it? Yes, I know the mix is 2 years old, but who cares? Not me. Just press download, and spread the word, love the music. Praise the legend for his passion and enthusiasm, because it’s quite addictive. This mix makes me want to dig out a few old UK Garage CDs and wake up the whole neighbourhood. Why? Because I can.

The people at Blast didn’t knew they would receive such an excellent mix. The quality is immense, tune after tune. There’s no way of stopping DJ Q, when he’s behind the decks. The mix is flawless, and diverse as well. From calm and emotional tunes to the darker stuff, bass filled tunes, this mix has got everything.

DJ Q is a legend, and he knows it. This mix is yet another reason why we think that he’s UKG’s finest DJ. So damn good, it’s really hard to pick a favourite track because he has chosen only the finest tunes out there (back in 2012), and the result is beautiful. I simply can’t pick one track, because this whole mix is just too damn good. An excellent mix, probably DJ Q’s finest mix.

Excellent mix made by DJ Q. He never disappoints, he never lets us down. Only one score for a wicked mix!

It’s A Lot! The TS7 Tribute Mix – DJ E1D (2010)

Now, God only knows how I found this mix?! Maybe on Twitter, maybe on Facebook, I honestly don’t have a clue. But after a link took me to Soundcloud, my day changed radically! A proper TS7 tribute mix, one of my Bassline heroes from back in the days,  made by one of the DJs that spark my enthusiasm when Bassline mixtapes were made frequently, E1D. I can remember the good old days, when every up and coming DJ made a mixtape every month, and it was jam packed with fresh and uplifting Bassline music. I still have those folders, a few were made by DJ E1D. They were sh*t hot, everyone wanted to download them when they were released, and it caused mayhem on the world wide web: servers weren’t able to answers all those requests, and frequently crashed, and when it did, it crashed hard… I miss those days.

I really wanted to add more information here, regarding TS7, but the world wide web is messing up (wow, I just talk about sh*te internet, and got it straight away). This very talented DJ and producer, who’s specialised in Bassline music, has made memorable tunes, alongside the best female vocalists. When Bassline was a huge thing (not over here in the Netherlands), TS7’s fame grew and grew, just because of the fact that his tunes were made for the dancefloor. Everywhere you went, you heard Bassline coming out speakers, and I reckon 80 % of the tunes played, were made by TS7. And as a tribute to his achievements as a producer, E1D made this tribute mix, and I’ve got to say, I wasn’t expecting it to be this good! So many great tunes, you don’t hear them anymore. I don’t know what has happened to Bassline, but I do miss the good old days.

This mix was recorded back in 2010, and recently uploaded onto Soundcloud. Don’t know why E1D waited so long, but it’s worth the wait. What a monster mix! Oh, you want to see a tracklist? Here it is!

01. TS7 – Ed Hardy (E1D Special)
02. TS7 – Flip Flop

05. Platnum – Love Shy (Thinking About You) (TS7 Remix)
06. TS7 – Scorcher
07. TS7 feat Addictive – Candy Rain
08. TS7 – What Ya Mean
09. TS7 feat Haynzy – Falling Alone
10. CRW – I Feel Love (TS7 Remix)
11. Estelle feat Kany West – American Boy (TS7 Remix)
12. TS7 feat Slick Don & Specks – All Night Long
13. TS7 feat Teresa – End With Goodnight
14. TS7 feat Bianca G – Tired Of Waiting

23. TS7 feat Sarah Jane – Touch Me
24. TS7 feat MC Bonez – Standard (Ed Hardy)
25. TS7 feat Kaylee – Keep Hurting You

Seriously insane tracklist! Every track E1D used to make this tribute mix, is known to me. Not a single unknown track! See, that’s TS7’s strength as a producer. Very talented, spot on when it comes to the music. Amazing tracks, some I haven’t heard for a while, but I can still sing along/bounce along to. Abso-f**king-lutely amazing!

The one that made me bounce the hardest (I bounce, because I’m extremely white) has to be ‘All Night Long’. Loved the combination, Specks and Slick Don alongside TS7. Sexy videoclip too, if you can remember it? That’s my favourite TS7 track of all time, but there are more good ones in this mix. You will have a different opinion, and you can, I’m not forbidden you to have a different track in mind. But what I want you to do, is to share your love for TS7. Download this mix, burn it onto a disc (that’s how we rolled back in 2010), and play it out loud in your car.

A good tribute mix by E1D. If you want to hear more similar mixes, why not go to his Soundcloud page? There are several tribute mixes! If you are a MJ Cole, Agent X, Booda or TRC fan, check them out! Or if you want older mixtapes, they are all for free!

Anyone got a time machine? I want to go back to 2010!! Good music was made then!

It’s been a while since I last heard a Jamie Moore mix. It’s been a year or so, I reckon, not sure to be honest, but I was browsing online for good music, and realised that this man still has a Soundcloud page, and I thought ‘why not have a go, and see if he’s got something interesting on it?’. Well, he has got something interesting I wanted to share with you all, it’s not a brand new mix, it’s 4 months old, but still fresh. Jamie Moore – Still Got Bass Volume 1. That’s the name, and it’s as good as you would expect from the 4×4 Bassline DJ. Boy, I did miss his mixes a lot.

His latest mix is a very special one: when you download it, you also get a free mix made by DJ Cripster. 18 tracks long mix, so instead of one mix, you get two! Both mixes are quite interesting, made by two very talented DJs. What else can I say that might interest you even more? Erm, well, the tunes are good. You get 46 tracks, 2 mixes, carefully mixed by Cripster and Jamie Moore. If you are a Bassline fan like myself, you know that it’s a good sign that there are still people out there playing out these tunes, and that it means that the sound is still vibrant and still alive. The sound seemed to have died after the heydays of Bassline, but with mixes such as these ones you know it’s still alive and kicking.

Let’s see the tunes that both DJs mixed together!

Two mixes for the price of one! Head over to Jamie Moore’s Soundcloud page and find out how to get these two mixes.

The first mix is the most serious one. Cripster throws in a few funny tunes such as ‘Emmerdale’ and ‘Countdown’. Jamie Moore is moore serious (lol), and the tunes he selected are good. Nastier and darker tunes were selected by mr Moore, and there’s nothing to mention besides the fact that they are all good. Jamie Moore is back, thank God for that!

DJ Cripster, as I said, has a quite different mix. Equally good, because I like quirky mixes too. But there’s one track I mentioned before, which has become quite annoying, because that bloody tune will never leave your head. I’ve got the ‘Countdown’ sound in my head right now! Why won’t it leave? Duh duh duh duuhdduuhh duuuh.

Jamie’s mix is good, Cripsters mix was an unexpected but pleasant bonus. Make sure you download these mixes, because it will improve your weekend! And make sure you like ‘Jamie Moore’ and ‘Cripster’ on Facebook. Do it now!
