Sied van Riel – Rielism 2 (2013)

Sied van Riel - Rielism 2 (2013)
Van Martin van Zeelandt

Sied van Riel is life. Life is Rielism. And that’s all there is to say. At the moment I’m such a fanboy, and maybe a bit too much focussed on this label, but I do apologise for that. But there’s a reason why that is: I understand what Sied is doing, and what his mission is, and what his passion and dedication is, and what kind of music he likes. I don’t know when it was I bought ‘In Riel Time’ (will there ever be a second instalment?), but that changed my life. I do know that I came across it on Youtube, when I saw the video for it online. I was intrigued by this unknown DJ and producer, but when Sied van Riel released it, I was hooked.

I’ve reviewed a lot of his stuff, and stuff released on his label, like Misha Helsloot’s latest album (which is seriously good). Rielism 4 made me want to purchase the other ones I didn’t have, like number 2 and 3, but sadly there weren’t any available. I tried to find number 3, but no luck so far. But I already have 1, 2 and 4, and a keychain + t-shirt. Yes, a fan boy. But not of Sied himself. I honestly don’t know his date of birth, his pin code, his shoe size or the name of his barber, and I honestly do not give a single shit about that. What he does for a living, that’s what intrigues me.

A label owner, a party organiser, a DJ and a producer, all in one. And I couldn’t let the second instalment of his succesful Rielism series go by without writing a thing or two about it. This wonderful album, which was released 4 years ago, is still a powerful and beautiful album, and the tracks selected by the legend himself are truly solid as a rock, and timeless.

The tracklist is what’s next. Two discs with the finest records. You have to be seriously insane NOT to like the tracklist.

Every album he has done is a masterpiece. I know there’s a top 100 list of all time albums you need to listen to before you do die, and most of them are indeed classics by the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Queen, Goldie, David Bowie, but in all fairness they should make the list a bit bigger, and include 1,2, and 4 of Rielism.

Both discs contain the finest Trance tunes out there. And it’s good that someone like Sied puts not only himself forward, but also upcoming names. Names you need to look out for. And it works out beautifully. A nicely balanced album, and not in your face, or annoying. Sied always knows how to please the listeners, and let the tunes fly by without you knowing it. I always have the feeling the discs are too short: once a disc finishes, it doesn’t feel like an hour has passed.

The best of this? Oh, that’s difficult. But I found two, one on each disc: disc one has got to be ‘Share This Night’. Catchy vocals. And the second disc: ‘We Control The Sunlight’. Again, catchy and beautiful lyrics. The last couple of weeks I’ve been focussing on non lyrical Trance records, but today it seems I do love vocals a lot. So these two are to me the finest of this album.

I just love the album. Sied’s face is literally haunted. Don’t know why he doesn’t smile, he just created another masterpiece. Or maybe he was knackered after spending so long in the studio, creating this one of a kind album.

You can still get this via the usual stores. It might be 4 years old, still fresh as a daisy! Check it out right now!

Ps. normally I put a Soundcloud link or a Youtube video underneath, but I simply can’t find anything online anymore? Well, you’ve just got to believe what I’m saying!
