Being on a promo list is always a good thing. Not many artists or labels have got me on their list, but a few have. And one of those labels sent me a link to a mix the other week. The mix in question was a mix made by Al Twisted, showcasing the labels Motormouth Recz and MadBack Recs, and it’s a 2017 yearmix. Now I don’t hear enough Industrial Hardcore mixes, so this was a nice welcome. Heard alreadya a few yearmixes, and I reckon this will be the last of 2017 I will review. We need to reminisce the previous year shortly, and move on.
But this mix brings me right back to the previous year, and these two labels have done well. Also Al Twisted had a great year, but let’s focus on the music. What is it that you actually get? An hour and 14 minutes long mix by Al, including records from Scotland, Belgium and the rest of the world, and the focus is Industrial Hardcore. Now if that’s something you want to hear, look no further. If this doesn’t appeal to you, please turn off the internet right now.
As stated above, this contains filthy records. And I do mean filthy records. Starting off with records with a soothing Techno sound to the roughest of the lot, Terror music. And everything in between is just pure filth, slowely building towards an insane ending. Interested yet?

This is dark. The build is beautifully done by Al Twisted, he slowely speeds up the records to a Terror level, and you won’t have a clue the BPMs have gone up significantly, unless you are actually just sitting behind your computer focussed on your screens and not paying attention to the amazing music coming at you through the speakers.
Within only a handful of days the amount of plays have reached nearly 3k. And that’s impressive. Industrial Hardcore is still a slightly underrated sound, but it doesn’t mean it’s any less compared to the mainstream Hardcore. Sometimes it’s even better than the ‘commercial’ Hardcore. And I’ve got to say that Al Twisted made a true amazing mix containing epic records.
But it’s not the faster stuff that touched me, it’s the slower stuff. The first few records by [KTRM] and Tripped are so bloody good, this is the kind of Hardcore/Techno I want to hear. Taking me back to the early days, but not the bloody early days. Around the start of the noughties. The best record, which the name has just left my brain (the best bit starts at 9:09) reminds me so much of Marc Arcadipane and his musical genius records. This is my favourite sound of this mix. That ‘woop woop’ sound.
Don’t get me wrong: when it goes rougher, it just sounds so good. I do like the beats and basses go up and up, but the slower stuff is much more my cup of tea.
Al, you are a genius. This mix is just superb. No negative comments. A wonderful mix! Astonishing!
