M@rt!n-J – Gammer [The Archives] (2018)

gammerthearchives

Who doesn’t love Gammer? Well, that’s a debate we can have another day. Nowadays it seems that half of the scene supports him, and the other half doesn’t. They don’t understand why he’s making a name for himself by doing what he does, but he has seen the light (to quote an oldschool UK Hardcore record). He’s got the potential to become noticed for his talents, and by playing UK Hardcore with a EDM twist, he does recognised. And who doesn’t want that? Darren Styles was one of the first to do it (play UK Hardcore tracks for a pop music audience), and look how much appreciation he gets. Give it some time, and people will thank Gammer for achieving what he has done.

But for now, we go back to the forgotten years. The records which made Gammer a huge name. He started his succesful career in the scene next to oldskool legend Dougal, but don’t underestimate the strength of Gammer when it comes to making records on his own. And one of the regulars on this page has made an excellent mix, showcasing ‘The Archive’ records from Gammer, the records which have not been released for a while, until now! And we are talking big records, really big records!

Sit back for this tracklist. It will blow your mind away! How these have never been released before is beyond belief!

Boom! In your face! How’s that for a proper tracklist, eh? Come on, Gammer is your secret passion, your guilty pleasure? And in this mix you can find everything Gammer related, from his Hard House adventures to the Freeform side of the Gammer-man.

M@rt!n-J has made a shitload of good mixes, and his latest is also a good one. These records you sadly don’t hear very often, when they actually should be played in each and every set. These archive records are really amazing. They take me back to the good ol’ days, when I discovered Gammer and his talents. Yes, you’ve read it correctly, I wasn’t there when the scene was created, I was a late learner. But it’s never too late to experience the power behind records, eh?

He has had some wicked records, you can’t deny that! And in this mix you find some amazing records, like ‘Get Hype’, ‘Break Da Rules’, ‘Still The One’, ’34M’, and more. But which record does the most for me? Well, I’ve got to stay true to my youth music, so ‘What The Hood Made Me’. Proper Gabber anthem. Wish Gammer made more Gabber/Hardcore anthems, he’s really good at that!

One records causes goosebumps, and not the good ones. ‘Over 4 Me’. The vocal just freaks me out. Such an annoying voice. Brrr. Not my cup of tea. Wish she could shut the f**k up.

Anyway, a nice dedication mix to the well loved Gammer archives. A nice mix to start your Saturday morning with! Oh, and let’s not forget the weird ass intro. Only Gammer could come up with something this daft!
