Nostalgia Demo Mix (2018)

Naamloos

I think it’s a re-occuring theme here at TCD: every weekend we go back in time. And this time we go way back, to the early days (the 90s I’m talking about, not the bloody beginning of mankind). And there’s a Soundcloud channel for those who love the oldskool sound, and it’s called ‘History Of Happy Hardcore’. I don’t know who runs this, or who mixes these beautiful mixes together, but what I do know is that they are doing an excellent job. Yesterday they uploaded their latest mix, where the focus is (guess if you want to): oldskool Hardcore.

I give this Soundcloud channel a lot of credit, but they deserve it: they are responsible for keeping the oldskool sound alive. Uploading mixes like this one keeps the child inside of me extremely happy. I’m delighted when I hear these wicked anthems. This mix is focussed on the UK side of Hardcore, the one I sadly did not grew up listening to. My focus was Happy Hardcore from the Netherlands. But I got to love this sound over the years, and now you can wake me up in the middle of the night for a bit of UK Hardcore from the 90s. Any day.

The tracklist is a beauty. You can tell that I’m excited, yeah? Stop what you are doing, or whatever you are listening to, and check this out!

The British loved their piano section. You can listen to this mix and hear their dedication to put in literally every record a nice piano section. Especially the Luna-C record, which coincidentally is called ‘Piano Progression’. Which is my favourite record of this mix.

The 90s were the best for Hardcore music: it started to develop itself into a sound which was so unique and refreshing, it captured the attention, and many have started to love it. It might be more than 20 years old, but to many ravers it’s a sound which can not be replaced with present day music. And I feel exactly the same. And also the amount of artists who are trying to keep it alive has fallen dramatically, so we only have a handful of artists left. Which is a pity.

History Of Happy Hardcore have delivered yet another awesome mix. And to prove to you all how excited I am, I’m going to write the word in capital letter: this mix is really AWESOME! I’ve got nothing but PLUR for this mix and what their mission is (if you don’t know what PLUR means, go back to school and be re-educated: it means Peace, Love, Unity and Respect).

Oldskool every day. Even on Father’s day. Play this out loud and maybe your pops might like it?
