Rachel Vega Presents Beats Of Rage Hosted By Enemy (2017)

Rachel Vega Presents Beats Of Rage Hosted By Enemy
Van Martin van Zeelandt

A couple of weeks ago I found a new mix on Soundcloud, and immediately my attention was drawn to it. One of the rising female stars in the UK Hardcore alongside the legendary MC that is MC Enemy, together on a mixtape called ‘Beats Of Rage’. Now, Enemy doesn’t need an introduction, but Rachel Vega, I’ve seen her name before, but never had the chance to listen to a mixtape (which included a tracklist). This mix was uploaded last year, but it’s fire.

She’s one of the fastest rising stars in the scene, and she’s representing the females within the scene very nicely with this really dope mixtape. She decided to go all out, and mix together the finest UK Hardcore/Happy Hardcore and Drum & Bass records. And not only do you get wicked records, you also get a few records made or remixed by herself.

MC Enemy just does his thing, like he always does. Not that this mix needed any improvements, but he just lifts it to another level (see what I did there? only the die hard Enemy fans do know what I just did there).

Let me show you the tracklist. She kindly added it the other day when I asked for it! Bonus points for that!

Half an hour of power. That’s what this mixtape represents. Not only the strength of Enemy or Rachel, but also the music coming out of the scene as we speak. The tunes she selected are fire. Dangerously interesting. I haven’t stopped listening to this mixtape, and that’s no word of a lie.

Rachel knows exactly what the listener needs to hear. The records are fire. And Enemy makes sure the listeners get a history lesson: he includes a few of his legendary rhyhmes into this mixtape, including his first ever lyric. Well, whatever these two bring to the table, it has worked out extremely well.

What’s the best track in this mix? Well, it’s plain and simple: ‘Run The Night’. I have not heard this track before, but what I can tell you, is the fact that this is true to the UK Hardcore scene, with a bit of Hardstyle influences in it. Catchy vocals, ridicilous basses, and such a good whistling rhythme.

A wonderful mixtape, it has to be said. I really enjoyed it. Especially the female vocal bits, they are simply the best. I hope that Vega and Enemy work together in the future more often, because this mixtape was brilliant!
