Tommie Sunshine is back with a brand new mix! The DJ with the longest hair in recorded history has uploaded a brand new mix 4 days ago, or to be precise, he didn’t, but Dancing Astronaut did. He did a guest mix for something called ‘Dancing Astronaut’, which is a music related website. Everything you need to know about music can be found there. His mix is the most recent one added to the long list of free mixes, and it’s a good one. This man knows a thing or two about music, and the last time I reviewed one of his mixes, he played Acid House. Now this mix is filled with Electro House/Bassline House, and it’s the perfect mix for these dreadful days (the sun ain’t coming through over here yet).

Whenever I see Tommie Sunshine I wonder if he played a minor role in ‘That 70s Show’. He does look a lot like Leo, doesn’t he? Anyway, don’t let his looks deceive you. This man has been in the game for many years, and with age comes experience. I’m not sure when he started playing music, and on his website it’s not said, so it’s a guess when he started. But he knows a thing or two, and spreads his knowledge and love for the music around time and time again, with free mixes like his ‘Sunshine Forecast’ mix series. His Soundcloud is the place to be, if you are a fan of great music.

There is a tracklist if you are interested, and I think you should have a look at what Tommie has selected. This man is a God.

01. Funkin Matt – America
02. Tiga & Boys Noize – 100

06. Zeds Dead – Hadouken (Valentino Khan Remix)
07. Born Dirty feat Kid Sister – Don’t Stop Get It
08. ATICA – Fire
09. DJ Q & Flava D – PS
10. Champion feat Serious One – Listen Da Bass
11. KANDY – I Don’t Need You Anymore
12. Slander & NGHTMRE – Warning (Ghastly Remix)

—  Rhythm Control – My House (Acapella)
19. K.W. Griff feat Pork Chop – Bring In The Katz

The mix is good, right up my alley! This is Tommie Sunshine’s finest mix. It’s good to see a few names in this mix like DJ Q, Trilla, Tiga and more. Never heard of Wuki or Jakwob before, but it’s never too late to hallucinate, eh?

After hearing the mix entirely, I’ve noticed one thing: Tommie does play excellent tunes time and time again. Never a dull moment with this man. And he has composed an excellent mix, but the track that made me move the most, is the first track. ‘America’ by Funkin Matt. I’ve never heard such a fine tune before, I’ve got goosebumps going down my spine time and time again! Even though I’ve never been to America before (too darn pricey), it’s like Funkin Matt is inviting me to come over. Come over and dance the night away. Probably the best tune of 2015 (so far, still many months to go).

Let’s not underestimate the other tracks, they are wicked too (like DJ Q’s track, brilliant stuff), but not as good as the opening track.

A fantastic mix, and I think that Dancing Astronaut have asked the right guy to make their 150th guest mix. No one else than Tommie Sunshine can produce such a wonderful, euphoric, exciting, beautiful and sexy mix. You can tell me that during this mix you didn’t move your body at all. This mix is so damn good, it’s time for people to notice the underlining message: music can create peace, and Tommie Sunshine behind the decks the result is what we all want: to dance the night away and to forget our worries. This mix is beautifully composed, and nicely balanced. With all the worries on God’s given Earth, there’s one thing you can do: sit back, press play and let Tommie Sunshine take you to euphoria.

Nothing can beat this excellent and magnificent mix. If God would come back to Earth and stand behind the decks for a single hour, he would come up with the same mix. Does that mean Tommie Sunshine is God? Well, he has got the long hair….. who knows?

Sadly not downloadable, but still worth a listen or 2. Or 3. Or more.

More new music for you all to embrace. A brand new mix was sent to me the other day via Facebook, and it’s a  new mix made by DJ Retro and Nition, and it’s called ‘The 4×4 Skank & Vibes Volume 1′. You should really give this one a go, seeing as it’s a good one, judging the mix and the tracklist. It’s filled with 17 bangers, and were carefully mixed by Retro & Nition. Worth a download, to be honest.

This isn’t the first time I’ve reviewed a Nition mix, but I can’t remember if I had the honour of reviewing a Retro mix before. The previous website got deleted, and the reviews have disappeared completely. So sorry if I’m not sure, but at least I’m listening and reviewing this mix right now, eh?

The mix is jam packed with a lot of Organ House/Speed Garage/Deep House/Tech House/Bassline tunes, and the feeling you get when the mix is playing, is of pure bliss. Nothing can change your mood, this is really a good mix, the tunes they’ve selected are all good, even the ‘Call Me Maybe’ remix. I know it’s the world’s most annoying song, but this version makes the song acceptable. Curious yet? You want to see the tracklist?

01. Sallis – Soundboy
02. JG feat K Dot – Off Wi Their Head (New Skool Remix)
03. Retro & Nition – Its Your World (Bassline Remix)
04. SKL Production feat Carly Rae Jepson – Call Me Maybe (Bassline Remix)
05. Chronicle – All The Things (DJ Nition Special)
06. Retro & Nition – Gecko (Bassline Remix)
07. DJ Zeesh – Tight Up Skirt (Bassline Remix)
08. Nastee Boi – Back II Life
09. Retro & Nition – Full Attention
10. Mystery – Incredible
11. Nastee Boi – Save It
12. Krissi B – Grrrrrr
13. TRC – I Just (Dub)
14. Chronicle – I Feel You (DJ Nition Special)
15. Nay Nay – Im On It VIP
16. Retro & Nition – Never Say Never
17. Nastee Boi feat MC Bonez – Roll Like That

See, I told you that the tracklist does look gorgeous. It’s nice to see and hear their own productions and remixes in it aswel, and before you all get hyped up too much, you should press play and download it at the same time.

The mix is rather excellent, and even though there are a couple of small errors (mixing into the next track does go slightly bonkers sometimes), it’s a good mix. A nice and calm mix, one mix you really should embrace.

The best track in this mix? Oh, that’s a difficult one, but I have to choose ‘Never Say Never’. Such a wicked track, good vocals, nicely balanced track by Retro & Nition. They are on fire.

A solid mix, with excellent tracks in it. Carefully selected by Retro & Nition. A good first instalment, can’t wait for the second instalment.

Damn, I can’t get ‘Call Me Maybe’ out of my head. Arrrrghhh.

It’s been quite some time since I last heard and reviewed a DJ Q mix, it must have been at least a year ago! The world wide web offers everything for us music lovers, and after browsing for minutes (not hours), I found an old mix, made by DJ Q, a mix he made for Blast back in 2012. This was a promo mix for an event which was held on the 7th of December 2012, and it’s a free download, so if you were looking for an excellent mix filled with Bassline and 4×4 tunes, don’t look no further, this is the mix you were looking for! It’s made by DJ Q for God’s sake!

DJ Q is a legend. A world famous DJ and producer who has inspired many up and coming artists, and he gave us hours of excellent music when he had his own show on BBC Radio 1, Back in 2004 he was given the opportunity to showcase his strength, and immediately became the youngest DJ at 1Xtra, hosting his own show for many years. He changed radio stations and now he’s a resident DJ on Ministry Of Sound Radio, with his monthly show. This man did not just play live on the air, he also played all over the world, from Russia to America, from the Netherlands to Italy, he has seen the world and played in front of thousands of people. He also releases amazing tunes, and his most famous track ever (alongside MC Bonez) hit the UK charts back in 2008, the track I’m talking about is ‘You Wot’.

After discovering Bassline music back in 2008, I looked on the web for music, and was drawn towards DJ Q’s radio show on BBC 1Xtra. His shows always entertained me a lot, and from that moment on I became addicted to DJ Q. Not like a drug addict, but more like a music freak. He gave Bassline music a platform, and people seemed to love his enthusiasm and passion for the music. The fans reaction to his music inspired him to release his debut album back in 2013,  called ‘Ineffable’, which received mixed reviews. Maybe it’s a review I might do in the near future (if there are still copies left?)? This man has given his all to the UK Garage scene, and when the people at Blast asked him to make a promo mix, they didn’t knew that he was going to send them a fanf**kingtastic mix back! The result is astonishing, beautiful from the beginning to the end. From oldskool Bassline tunes to brandspanking new tunes to his own productions, it’s all in here. (when I say brandspanking new… it was new back in 2012, now it’s 2 years old).

06. Julio Bashmore – Au Seve
07. Tulisa – Sight Of You (TS7 Remix)
08. Burgaboy – You’re Gonna Love Me
09. Indo – R U Sleeping (Todd Edwards Remix)
10. TS7 – Strobe

The tracklist is gorgeous. The perfect mix to start your weekend with, isn’t it? Yes, I know the mix is 2 years old, but who cares? Not me. Just press download, and spread the word, love the music. Praise the legend for his passion and enthusiasm, because it’s quite addictive. This mix makes me want to dig out a few old UK Garage CDs and wake up the whole neighbourhood. Why? Because I can.

The people at Blast didn’t knew they would receive such an excellent mix. The quality is immense, tune after tune. There’s no way of stopping DJ Q, when he’s behind the decks. The mix is flawless, and diverse as well. From calm and emotional tunes to the darker stuff, bass filled tunes, this mix has got everything.

DJ Q is a legend, and he knows it. This mix is yet another reason why we think that he’s UKG’s finest DJ. So damn good, it’s really hard to pick a favourite track because he has chosen only the finest tunes out there (back in 2012), and the result is beautiful. I simply can’t pick one track, because this whole mix is just too damn good. An excellent mix, probably DJ Q’s finest mix.

Excellent mix made by DJ Q. He never disappoints, he never lets us down. Only one score for a wicked mix!
