E-Mission Festival 2018 – Early Hardcore Mixtape By DJ Panic

E-Mission Festival 2018 - Early Hardcore mixtape by DJ Panic

Most of you lot know I’m not Italian, hence why the website is called ‘The Crazy Dutchmans Blog’, and not the Italian version of this. The reason why I am saying this, is because I came across a mix today, a promo mix, for an event called ‘E-Mission’, which is held next week on the 14th of July at Discoteca Florida, in Ghedi, Italy. At first I thought this was a new kind of event I had not heard of before, but quickly after realising this takes place not in the Benelux, I had to give in: I would not have known of this event, be it without Soundcloud.  Read More

DJ Paul Elstak & DJ Panic – I Love Beatz Mixtape #4 (2017)

sunglow

Only yesterday this was uploaded, and already it has reached around 5.000+ plays within 24 hours! How amazing is that? Well, if I’m honest, it’s a mix by two legends in the Dutch music industry: Paul Elstak and Panic. And now you are wondering what the mix is about? Well, it’s a promotion mix for what Paul Elstak does nowadays, pushing his ‘I Love Beatz’ forward, which is a freestyle concept of the man himself. And at this year’s Sunglow event they will push this concept forward, and to get everyone excited, they’ve uploaded a mix yesterday, time enough for you to get excited and ready for this event (which takes place on the 9th of September, and there are still tickets available).

The line-up looks really, really good, let me showcase a few: B-Front, Deetox, D-Fence, Rob & MC Joe, Miss K8, Ran-D, Regain, Ruffneck B2B DJ Rob, Sub Zero Project, and of course Paul Elstak. But he’s doing a set alongside JeBroer. If you are not Dutch and don’t know what this collaboration means, well… I reckon they made the anthem of 2017. “Kind Van De Duivel” is the anthem of 2017, without a shadow of a doubt. Many will dance the night away, whilst hearing this tune coming out of the speaker. It’s kind of different when you are not Dutch and don’t know what the lyrics are about, but it’s about the music, eh?

But let’s not forget DJ Panic, who also contributed to this mix. Together they made a very interesting mix. And this Freestyle sound is getting bigger, and better. I don’t know if this style is getting more populair around the world, I do know it’s very big in the Netherlands, but I’ve not heard it in the UK yet. Give it some time and it will.

In the meantime, get excited about this tracklist.

It might look like a very long tracklist, and the mix won’t fit your standard CDR, but the time flies by. Especially when the party mode is on. And that’s what Panic and Paul Elstak do best. Since the early 90s these legends have been pushing music forward, changing the landscape of Hardcore.

The line-up for this Sunglow event looks good, and this mixtape is also extremely interesting. You go from one extreem to the next, no bullshit, the party mode is on. A few ‘hands in the air’ moments, and sing along bits, which leads up to a very entertaining mix. I know you all will appreciate this mix.

There are so many great anthems in here, like ‘Like A Drum’, ‘Afbreken’, ‘Mashup 6.0’, ‘Kind Van De Duivel’, ‘Skum’, ‘Helium’, and the list goes on. But which record does the most for me? Well, ‘Uncle Fucker’. I love D-Fence’s no nonsense approach to Hardcore.

Paul Elstak and Panic, together for one mix. A dangerous mix. Some tracks might be too damn cheesy, and some are much better than the original. It’s worth listening to it again and again.

Panic @ Neophyte Records 15 Years – Bigger Than Ever (Matrixx, NL) (2014)

neophyte-records-15-years-bigger-than-ever-27-resized

I think Soundcloud knows what I want, when I want it. For example this weekend, I wanted to hear some Techno and Trance sets, and I got what I asked for. But this morning it was a bit ‘meh’ at work, not really busy, and I was a bit exhausted. So the first thing that emerged, was a Hardcore set. How about that? That kept me awake, and focussed at work. A bit of Panic throughout 8 hours of work, who doesn’t want to hear that? If you don’t, please leave this planet right now! And I do mean right now! Who doesn’t love Hardcore?

Panic is a name who doesn’t need an introduction. Hence the reason why he was asked to perform at this massive event at the Matrixx in Nijmegen (the Netherlands). He played alongside superstars such as Neophyte, The Viper, Tha Playah, Evil Activities, E-Life, Furyan, Endymion, Jeff, and the Neophyte Records All Stars. Now that’s a line-up that will make you dribble like Homer J. Simpson. And the tracklist will blow your mind away too. It’s a thing of beauty.

Want to see the tracklist? I’m not sure about a few tracks, someone made this tracklist, but some tracks do not sound like the original, so they could be remixes….

tracklist

01. Masters Of Ceremony – Bottoms Up
02. Tha Playah – Bling Bling (Nitrogrenetics Remix)
03. Evil Activities vs Tha Playah – Imperial
04. Masters Of Ceremony – A Way Of Life
05. Bodylotion – How Much Can You Take (Catscan Remix)
06. Scott Brown – Bass Be Louder
07. Evil Activities & Chaosphere – State Of Emergency
08. Tha Playah – Hit Em
09. Scott Brown – King Of The Beats
10. Neophyte vs Tha Playah & MC Alee – The Ultimate Project
11. Masters Of Ceremony – Under Control 09
12. Tha Playah vs DJ Mad Dog – Enter The Timemachine (DJ Mad Dog Remix)
13. Evil Activities – What’s Inside Me (Tha Playah Refix)
14. Evil Activities & DJ Panic – Never Fall Asleep
15. Bodylotion – Neighbourhood Crime (Tha Playah Remix)
16. Evil Activities & DJ Panic feat MC Alee – Bigger Than Ever
17. Neophyte & The Viper – Got 2 Be Original
18. Evil Activities & Neophyte – To You Who Doubt Me (Tommyknocker Remix)
19. Art Of Fighters – Artwork (Tha Playah Remix)

Now that’s a tracklist and a half! What a serious tracklist, no fuzzing about, pure Hardcore from the first to the last second! Before you blink, you’ve got to agree that it looked like a set done by Evil Activities, doesn’t it? Or a set by The Playah? The amount of tracks by these two names is just tremendous. Maybe Panic is a fan of them?

Panic has picked serious records, no shite wannabee Hardcore records, but he’s part of Neophyte Records, they don’t release crappy music (truth be told). And being part of this collective is obviously something unique: you don’t become a member without having potential. And Panic has meant a lot for the Hardcore scene, and you can hear his enthusiasm throughout the set.

From time to time he does go a bit bonkers, in a funny way. As I said before he loves Hardcore, but his cross fading can be a bit off/dodgy from time to time. But that’s no big thing. All in all a wicked set, if you love Hardcore coming out of your speakers.

A wicked set. Can’t believe it’s 3 years old! It still sounds fresh. Another liveset that proves Hardcore is timeless. And so is Panic!

Best record? ‘Bottoms Up’. Just listen to it, and you will know why. The ultimate crowd pleaser.

Foolish Freestyle 2016 Yearmix By Panic & Dr Phunk (2016)

R-9740576-1485629117-7523.jpeg

2016 has been a great year for music, and if you are a music fan like I am, you have noticed the rise of a new style called Freestyle. I haven’t heard of it before 2016, so I can’t inform you about its past. But what I can say right now, is that it’s the hottest style imaginable. Every big event has got at least 1 stage dedicated to it, and a whole host of artists are pushing the style forward. Two of them joined forces and have made a yearmix you need to listen to: Panic and Dr Phunk. The year mix is called ‘Foolish Freestyle 2016 Yearmix’, and you can listen to it via Soundcloud. And there’s a bonus for you all. All that in a minute.

The mix contains the finest Freestyle records from artists such as Re-Style, Panic, Paul Elstak, The Viper, Dr Phunk, Geck-O and more. And it’s been mixed together by Panic and Dr Phunk, and it’s a nice mix. You can get this mix by clicking the link above this review, or on Soundcloud, which it takes you straight to the website where you can purchase not only this mix, but all 34 records used in it. How about that, eh?

For me the mix means the most. Yes, I do like tracks on their own, but mixes are more my cup of tea. I grew up during an era when mixtapes were the hottest thing you could buy with Guilders (Dutch money). So the mix I found by accident on Soundcloud was just the right thing for me. And it’s worth checking it out.

Here’s the tracklist.

tracklist

01. Geck-O – International Outernational
02. Dr Phunk – L.I.T.
03. Crude Intentions – Bring Back The Bass
04. Dr Phunk & Alee – My World
05. Kit Hype – Mash It Up
06. Crude Intentions – INSAN3
07. DJ Mystery & Panic – Pussy B*tch
08. Dr Phunk – Deadliest Sound
09. Crude Intentions – Ghettoblaster
10. Dr Phunk – Set Me Free
11. Potato feat Tha Watcher – Beast Mode
12. Royal S & Crude Intentions – ARC4D3
13. Dr Phunk & FERAL is KINKY – Can’t Resist
14. Crude Intentions – Voices Part II
15. Playboyz feat MC The Russian – Lock N Load
16. Dr Phunk & Zany – Came 2 Party
17. The Viper feat MC-V – Freestyle Muthafokka
18. Dr Phunk – B.T.F.U.
19. Crude Intentions – Down Low
20. Dr Phunk – Get Up
21. Dr Phunk – Vigorous
22. Dr Phunk & Luna – Reckless
23. Re-Style – Hypnosis
24. The Prophet – OMG
25. Dr Phunk, Paul Elstak & JeBroer – Kind Van De Duivel
26. The Propher & Dr Phunk – Like That
27. Rockerman – Fine Day
28. Dr Phunk & Korsakoff – Secret Alliance
29. Rockerman feat Diesel – No Illusions
30. LNY TNZ & Boaz feat Mr Polska – Ravelord (DJ Paul Elstak Hardcore Mix)
31. Rockerman – The Sun Will Shine For You
32. Panic – Sunshine
33. DJ Paul Elstak – The Promised Land (The Viper Remix)
34. Re-Style & Scott Brown feat Ceci – I Go Crazy

The mix starts off slowely and gains BPMs toward the end. Which is a good thing, because it’s the same at a party/rave: the first acts always start off slow, and towards the end you’ve got DJs such as Drokz and Akira destroying every braincell you’ve got left.

Panic and Dr Phunk have made a very interesting mix. Showcasing what 2016 has done to us all, and it has made us aware that Freestyle is a growing style that everyone should be aware of. And I think the majority already embraced it, including yours truly, TCD. I’m digging this style a lot, and loving the vibes it creates. The same with this mix, it has brought a smile on my face from ear to ear, and there’s nothing wrong with it. The mixing was tight, the records tight, everything tight.

Which record was the finest? ‘Kind Van De Duivel’ is obviously the biggest tune at the moment, but for me it was ‘Set Me Free’. Just the track I was looking for, and I fell in love since the first time I heard it.

Panic and Dr Phunk have created an amazing yearmix, they should be proud of it. If you want it, you know what you need to do: follow the links to the right places, and buy  it now! It’s worth every penny/eurocent.

Paniek In De Loods Mixtape #1 – Mixed By Panic & Redrum (2014)

panic

It’s been a Hardcore day for me, but to be honest, most days are. But when it comes to reviewing music, most days are different: I can start with Hardcore, and halfway through I’ll be reviewing a new Club/Mellow mix. But today was a good day: I found a brand new mix by DJ Panic and DJ Redrum, showcasing their talents, and also promoting an event that Panic is playing at, which is called ‘Paniek In De Loods’. Translated to English, it’s ‘panic in the silo’. Doesn’t make any sense, but don’t worry, it’s all about the music, and not about the name of the party (the artists name is Panic and the name of the location is De Loods/ The Silo).

I was actually listening to another mix he uploaded onto his Soundcloud, but to be honest, that one was a bit older, and had older music on it: the music he plays here is just excellent. Well, Panic didn’t do it on his own, DJ Redrum played alongside him, making this a mix touching multiple decades, the 90s, the 00s and the 10s. From those memorable classics to brand new tracks, this has got it all. I grew up with Hardcore/Gabber music since the early 90s, and to hear a mixtape which has got those unique and forgotten tracks on them, alongside brand new stuff, is a nice bliss. Most artists focus on one decade, and don’t dare to go backwards in time. Panic and Redrum do, and that’s why I like this mix a lot.

There isn’t much I can tell you about DJ Redrum, a brand new name to me. But on his Facebook Fanpage it says that he’s an Oldskool and Early Rave/Hardcore/Freestyle DJ, and that’s exactly what I like to read. If you go to Panic’s Facebook Fanpage, it’s so much for you to read, there are more words in his biography, more than the bible! For God’s sake, I need my reading glasses to read his whole past lol. I can be honest with you all: his history and his impact in the Hardcore scene was and still is immense. One of the pioneers still active, a pioneer since day one! A rich history this man has, and if you are interested, you can read it all there! Good luck.

To persuade people to go to his event in May, he and Redrum made a mixtape, and it’s a good one. Here’s the tracklist for you.

If you are an Oldskool lover, you are probably having eyegasms at the moment! Look at the amount of Oldskool classics in this mix! But also look at the amount of ‘updated’ tracks! My God, this is one insane tracklist, and also one amazing mix!

Redrum and Panic chose very good tracks, and jumped backwards and forwards constantly. Some tracks are so good, you can’t believe that they are so old! Absolutely nothing to say bad about this mix, it’s one epic one. A memorable mix, one you should download and share with your friends, and if you don’t have friends, put your headphones on and play it loud, so loud, until semen comes out of both your ears. This mix has got the power to create eargasms!

If you want to hear more, why not go to the actual event? Panic will be there, not sure if Redrum will, but Stanton and Vince will be there. I will try to go to this one, not sure if I can… but I’ll try. I want more of this kind of mixing, I want more Oldskool in my life!
