Today is a good day. Not only on a personal level, but also on a musical level. New music has been found, and a lot of it. One of the mixes I’ve found is a brand new mix by Dirtbox, which is called ‘Bass Odyssey Volume 1’. According to the info added underneath the mix on Soundcloud, this mix is ‘the first in a series of Bass driven mixes’, which obviously means that there’s more to come. If you like Bass, look no further, you have found an excellent mix. Not focussed on one style or genre only, as long as it is Bass driven, it goes in this mix.

I had to look up who Dirtbox were, because I wasn’t aware of who’s behind this project. This is a three person group, and the people behind it are Lee UHF, Banshco and Lee Tabix, and they play a wide variety of music, from Drum and Bass to Electro. And in this mix you can find everything you are after. This is jam packed with excellent tunes, 21 amazing tracks. As I said before, the focus is on Bass driven music, and that’s what you get.

The mix has a tracklist, and I think it’s time for you all to see it! Whilst reading the tracklist, why not download this and press play, and go bananas?

01. Denney – Low Frequency (Calyx & Teebee Remix)
02. The Prodigy – Rebel Radio (Rene Lavice’s Start A Fucking Riot Remix)
03. Rene Lavice – Hotblooded
04. Macky Gee – Off Ones Rocker
05. Nero – Satisfy (Dirtbox DnB Edit)
06. Cyantific – No More Heroes
07. Document One – I Got A Fever
08. Dr Kucho & Gregor Salto – Can’t Stop Playing (Cyantific Remix)
09. Dr Kucho & Gregor Salto – Can’t Stop Playing (Oliver Helen Remix)
10. Dr Fresch – Superfreak
11. P Money & Loadstar – Round The Clock (Cause & Effect Remix)
12. All About She – Higher (Preditah Remix)
13. Double 99 – Ripgroove (Run Riot Remix)
14. KW Griff – Bring In The Katz (P Money Edit)
15. A Trak & Andrew Wyatt – Push
16. A Trak & Andrew Wyatt – Push (Rene Lavice Remix)
17. Teddy Killerz – Space Junk
18. Lynx & Newsome – Take Back The Night
19. Mob Tactics – Return Of The Snitch
20. Taxman – Creepshow
21. Noisia & The Upbeats – Omnivore

The Bass was very important when they composed this mix, and it is filled with excellent tunes, I have to say. 21 amazing tracks, and versatile too! Not bound to one style or genre, which is what I was waiting for.

A very entertaining first mix of this brand new series. The tracks are all solid, and to pick a favourite is a difficult decision. There are too many. Loving the ‘Round The Clock’ a lot, ‘Higher’ is also wicked, but the one that makes me dance like a monkey on acid the most has got to be ‘Ripgroove’. Everyone knows the original, and this version is as good as the original. I have heard many remixes and they never did the original justice, but this one seems to work well. A dancefloor smasher.

There are some small mixing errors, but who points them out? Only I do, but who am I? You are really going to enjoy this mix a lot. A good and welcome surprise into the boring, same style mixes world we live in. Diversity is what will get the people excited and let them expand their knowledge, not playing the same stuff over and over and not dipping your toes in different waters (if you know what I mean). Dirtbox’s mix is highly entertaining.

The mixing errors are just small, but can’t give it 5 out of 5. I’m picky, yes I know. Still a great mix though, don’t let my score change your perspective. Give this mix a go, right now!

A month ago I was browsing Soundcloud as I normally do, and I was looking for a proper liveset, and found one. A rather long one, and the person who performed was Justin Jay. In all honesty, I have never heard of this man before, but by judging the amount of Facebook likes he has, I’m probably the only one who didn’t knew who he was. It took me a while to listen to it fully, and a recent trip back from the UK made it possible for me to listen to it constantly. The journey from Calais to where I live is around 3 1/2 hours and this mix 2 1/2 hours, so I had plenty of time to listen and enjoy. And I enjoyed myself, the journey was much more pleasant.

When I pressed play for the first time, I wasn’t ready for this amount of House-ness. Fully unaware of the artist and where it was recorded, but after some browsing I found out who the artist is, and the vent he played at. Let’s talk about the artist, if you were like me, unaware of him. His name is Justin Jay, and according to the internet he’s an DJ and producer from Los Angeles, California. His Facebook page info section is quite short, but the most important thing for you all to know is that his influences are Daft Punk, Claude VonStroke and Rachmaninoff. The first two I’m familiar with, the last one I’m not. But the first two count, eh?

The event he played at is called ‘Desert Hearts’. 4.6k people went to it, and it lasted 3 days. The event presented hours of House, Techno & Love. Justin Jay was one of the headline acts, and he delivered a truly amazing set, which you can download right now. If you love House this is a must have set. A wide range of styles are played, from Electro House to Funky House to Deep House. Let me warn you, this liveset will blow your mind away, and will leave you breathless.

If you have to make a journey very soon, and it’s not 2 1/2 hours long, just drive a long way away and then come back. You must listen to this mix whilst driving, the ultimate driving mix! Or, if you don’t have a car, you can listen to it at home or wherever you are.

This mix blew me away! Seriously insane mix! It’s just too damn perfect! I fell in love from the first time I heard it, and now I’ve finally listened to it continuously, it has become my favourite House liveset of all time! Look at the amount of awesome tunes! This man knows House, and his passion for it is contagious! I couldn’t stop wiggling and wobbling around in my car during my journey. And secretly I still do it.

There are too many great anthems to mention, or to pick as favourite. The ones that really blew me away were the following: ‘Diamonds’, ‘Make A Cake’, ‘Karma’, ‘Equinox’, ‘Revolution 909’, ‘Brother Piña’, …. and the list goes on! So many great tunes did Justin Jay play, the crowd went mental (you can hear it throughout the set). And they aren’t the only ones, I’ve gone completely ballistic. I never heard of Justin Jay, but he’s gained another Facebook fan! What an excellent set, pure House from the first to the last second. No mucking about, pure music.

Justin Jay, you are a superstar! Already a House legend! Brilliant set.

A lot of Hardwell for us to listen to. If you love Hardwell, and I know a lot of you do, this is a must have liveset on your computer or mobile device.

It’s common nowadays to do mashups, and Hardwell did quite a few. And there are quite a few amazing tracks in here. Too many to choose from, but my favourite tracks has got to be ‘Never Say Goodbye’, ‘Apollo’ and ‘Heroes’. Do you want to know why? Well, the vocalists have done an amazing job by putting their heart and souls into each track, and it’s like these tracks have been sung by angels. Beautiful vocals, the best part of these three tracks!

A lot of dancefloor slammers, and a few I just don’t like. But that’s personal. You might like to hear Lil Jon, but I don’t. Not a fan of this man at all. His voice ruins everything. And ‘Seven Nation Army’ has been played too many times, it’s overkill that makes this track not pleasant for my ears. But don’t let my opinion stand in your way, if you want to dance throughout the whole set, why not?

A brilliant set, and with three of the best tracks (acappella-versions) in it. He demolished the main stage, and he made sure that everyone who witnessed him, had a wicked time. You can also check out his set on Youtube, if you want to see him and everyone at Ultra.

There’s a reason why he’s number 1. And within 58 minutes he shows us all why he’s number 1.

Tommie Sunshine is back with a brand new mix! The DJ with the longest hair in recorded history has uploaded a brand new mix 4 days ago, or to be precise, he didn’t, but Dancing Astronaut did. He did a guest mix for something called ‘Dancing Astronaut’, which is a music related website. Everything you need to know about music can be found there. His mix is the most recent one added to the long list of free mixes, and it’s a good one. This man knows a thing or two about music, and the last time I reviewed one of his mixes, he played Acid House. Now this mix is filled with Electro House/Bassline House, and it’s the perfect mix for these dreadful days (the sun ain’t coming through over here yet).

Whenever I see Tommie Sunshine I wonder if he played a minor role in ‘That 70s Show’. He does look a lot like Leo, doesn’t he? Anyway, don’t let his looks deceive you. This man has been in the game for many years, and with age comes experience. I’m not sure when he started playing music, and on his website it’s not said, so it’s a guess when he started. But he knows a thing or two, and spreads his knowledge and love for the music around time and time again, with free mixes like his ‘Sunshine Forecast’ mix series. His Soundcloud is the place to be, if you are a fan of great music.

There is a tracklist if you are interested, and I think you should have a look at what Tommie has selected. This man is a God.

01. Funkin Matt – America

06. Zeds Dead – Hadouken (Valentino Khan Remix)
07. Born Dirty feat Kid Sister – Don’t Stop Get It
08. ATICA – Fire
09. DJ Q & Flava D – PS
10. Champion feat Serious One – Listen Da Bass
11. KANDY – I Don’t Need You Anymore
12. Slander & NGHTMRE – Warning (Ghastly Remix)

18. Jakwob – Footwork
—  ID – ID
—  Rhythm Control – My House (Acapella)
19. K.W. Griff feat Pork Chop – Bring In The Katz

The mix is good, right up my alley! This is Tommie Sunshine’s finest mix. It’s good to see a few names in this mix like DJ Q, Trilla, Tiga and more. Never heard of Wuki or Jakwob before, but it’s never too late to hallucinate, eh?

After hearing the mix entirely, I’ve noticed one thing: Tommie does play excellent tunes time and time again. Never a dull moment with this man. And he has composed an excellent mix, but the track that made me move the most, is the first track. ‘America’ by Funkin Matt. I’ve never heard such a fine tune before, I’ve got goosebumps going down my spine time and time again! Even though I’ve never been to America before (too darn pricey), it’s like Funkin Matt is inviting me to come over. Come over and dance the night away. Probably the best tune of 2015 (so far, still many months to go).

Let’s not underestimate the other tracks, they are wicked too (like DJ Q’s track, brilliant stuff), but not as good as the opening track.

A fantastic mix, and I think that Dancing Astronaut have asked the right guy to make their 150th guest mix. No one else than Tommie Sunshine can produce such a wonderful, euphoric, exciting, beautiful and sexy mix. You can tell me that during this mix you didn’t move your body at all. This mix is so damn good, it’s time for people to notice the underlining message: music can create peace, and Tommie Sunshine behind the decks the result is what we all want: to dance the night away and to forget our worries. This mix is beautifully composed, and nicely balanced. With all the worries on God’s given Earth, there’s one thing you can do: sit back, press play and let Tommie Sunshine take you to euphoria.

Nothing can beat this excellent and magnificent mix. If God would come back to Earth and stand behind the decks for a single hour, he would come up with the same mix. Does that mean Tommie Sunshine is God? Well, he has got the long hair….. who knows?

Sadly not downloadable, but still worth a listen or 2. Or 3. Or more.
