I only found this mix yesterday, and I was one of the first people to listen to it, and literally go ape during the mix. It’s a promo mix for upcoming Free Festival, a festival that doesn’t need an introduction. This year’s edition takes place on the 1st of July, at Almere Strand, the Netherlands. And I reckon you already purchased tickets, because on Facebook it says that 3.8k people are going. You are probably going to the Hardcore bit, where Angerfist, Korsakoff, Miss K8, Destructive Tendencies, Scarphase, Dr. Peacock and more play. Or to the Hardstyle area, where you can find Radical Redemption, Wildstylez, Atmozfears, Crypsis and more. Or, as the Dutch would say, ‘doe eens gek’ and visit the Foolish area, at which DJs such as Darkraver, Ruthless, The Viper, Technoboy, Tuneboy, Bass-D and more play. Oh, and also Kit Hype, who I’ve sadly never heard before.

This mix is for those who are going to visit the Foolish area, and it’s a beautiful looking area. With so many great names, it’s a must see area. How can you avoid this area, when they’ve got so many great names? Yeah, i know, it will be difficult, because the whole line-up for the event looks amazing. Every area is a must go to, but just for your consideration, check out this mix. And you will immediately be drawn towards the Foolish area, you will. And guess who’s playing there? That’s right, the DJs who made this promo mix.

The tracklist is a beauty, random as hell. Not your ordinary tracklist. Name one mix in which they jump from style to style with ease, and even cram in some Hardcore in the middle of the mix?

This is one amazing tracklist! How diverse is this? This is what Freestyle represents: do whatever you like, play whatever you like, as long as it gets the crowd jumping up and down, and causing earthquakes.

This mix does exactly what you want it to. It demolishes you. It changes you into this creature feared by many. The way this mix is build-up, is immense. You don’t know which track comes next, or what kind of style it represents. It’s like a tsunami, wave after wave hits you!

The Viper obviously knows how to please the listeners, he’s a well established name in the industry, but Kit Hype is new, but he leaves a good impression on me. His tunes can also be found in this mix, which makes the mix even more dangerous!!

There are so many records to choose from, but this mix introduced me to one of the most amazing records ever made: ‘Locust’. Seriously, the level of filth can not be topped by any other record in this mix. Sadly played too short, this track deserves more time. I reckon when they play it at Free Festival, the crowd will loose it.

The Viper and Kit Hype, you’ve delivered an amazing mix! I sadly can’t go to Free Festival, but you, the reader, should. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t. Let this mix put you in the right direction….

Damn. Damn. Damn. What I’ve just found on Soundcloud will blow your mind away! A liveset, which is basically the biggest megamix for Jumpstyle/French Tek you’ve ever heard! This set you’ve probably heard before on Soundcloud, it already has 29.8k+ plays. And it would be weird if it didn’t reach this amount of plays. This set was recorded at Reverze back in 2011, and it was an amazing event, according to those who have been. The set you are about to listen to (maybe again) was only around 45 minutes long, but these three artists made sure you witnessed something unusual. 88 records in 43 minutes. Come on, give them credit for making a megamix like that!

Q-ic, Lethal MG and Ruthless do not need an introduction at all. French Tek and Jumpstyle lovers do know the names, and the records they have made. A few of their own productions can be found in this set, and let me warn you: before you realise it, the mix is over. Time does fly by too damn quickly, and some tracks are sadly played too shortly. But what can you do if your name is Q-ic, Ruthless or Lethal MG and your set is only 45 minutes long? Put as many records in as you can. Mess everyone up. Give them a night to remember!

The tracklist… pff, that will take a while for me to copy it exactly. But here it is:

Sweet Lord, this is too much! Seriously too much. You can’t get your head around the fact that they picked so many anthems, crammed them in a 43 minute long set, and made it work. If you were dancing on the dancefloor at Reverze back in 2011, this set must have blown you away!

But seriously, how do you dance to such a set, when you skip from one record to the next within 30 seconds? And you can not prepare yourself for the music, because the beats, basses and melodies come at you non stop. How’s that possible?

The tracklist has got amazing records in their, but in the actual set there’s no time to waste, so they jump literally from one to the next. It’s a rollercoaster ride which you are experiencing. Some bits are extremely pleasant, but some are just too hard and rough. But that’s just me.

I got flashbacks to the good ol’ days of French Tek/Jumpstyle etc. When the music was great, new, and not ruined by the commercial side of it. This set contains so many great anthems, it’s too damn hard to pick just one favourite. There are several. If you know me, you know which ones.

A good set, really enjoyable. Some bits are too rushed, but then again how else would you cram so many records in one mix? The end result is good, and it will make your dull Sunday morning turn upside down. More of these mixes please, more megamixes, there aren’t many out there with shitloads of records in it like this one!

Damn, it’s yet another Freestyle mix! I used to write reviews for every genre available, but lately it’s more focussed on Jumpstyle/Hardstyle/Freestyle. Is that a bad thing? Oh, absolutely not! It’s better for me, because I’m digging the Freestyle sound a lot, and even though it doesn’t need any pushing into the right direction, I still feel the urge to make this sound world wide known. And thankfully I’m not the only one: so many mixes for us all to listen to! The amount you can find on Soundcloud is endless!

One of those mixes was uploaded 4 months ago, and it was a yearmix. And you all know how much I like yearmixes, they always showcase how good (or bad) a year has been for that specific style. In this case it’s a mix, showcasing a label called ‘Basic Movements Records’. Never heard of it before, but that’s because I’m not focussed on labels, more on the artists. But in this case I’ve also never heard of Dustin Hertz. I’m not too late to learn, am I?

Dustin Hertz made a wicked yearmix, showcasing the label’s strength. And you can find a lot of records by artists such as Qatja S, Royal S, Ricardo Moreno, Bass-D and more. Also a few of his own records, so I can appreciate not only his mix but also his producing side.

Let’s see the tracklist.

tracklist

01. Jump A Delic – Feedback
02. Bass-D – 1000 Miles
03. Royal S – Ravetave
04. FMNT – Gotta Have
05. Ricardo Moreno – Mean
06. Dance Nation – Sunshine (DJ Rob & Freestyle Maniacs Remix)
07. Dance Nation – Sunshine (Playboyz Remix)
08. Dustin Hertz – To Da Club
09. Ricardo Moreno – Freak’in
10. FMNT – Revolution
11. Royal S – Hold Back
12. Vitellus – Show ‘Em The Bass
13. Clayton Cash feat Punch – Unbreakable
14. Qatja S & DJ Pablo – Drop That Booty
15. Nowaxx – Get Loose
16. Fanatic Chaoz – Get Down
17. Mad B, Addict & MC I See – FTSFTR
18. Royal S – Oldskool Flow
19. FMNT – Surge
20. Dustin Hertz – Wild M.F. (Edit)
21. Taa – Perversity
22. Royal S – Pump That Party
23. Vitellus – Life’s A Bitch (Original)
24. Ricardo Moreno – Bounce That Ass

Such a wicked mix, loved every second of it! Also good to hear that classic anthem by Dance Nation being revived for the 10s.

I never heard of Dustin Hertz nor Basic Movements Records, but I’ll make damn sure I will follow them. This mix has persuaded me, intrigued me. This kept me going through the day. Many more should embrace this mix like I did, especially with tracks such as ‘1000 Miles’, ‘Ravetave’, ‘Unbreakable’, and the list goes on. But which track moved me the most? Well, truth be told, it’s ‘Freak’in’ by Ricardo Moreno. Big build up, just an awesome record.

Dustin’s mix is flawless, and beautiful. The Freestyle scene is growing so rapidly, you just can’t pick mixes out that easily on Soundcloud, you will miss a few here and there. But not this one. I’m here, mentioning this mix to you. Don’t let this mix slip by you, because this will make your weekend even better!

I must mention something bad. Erm.. free download, good records, good mix, cool picture.. erm. I can’t find anything at all!

Dustin Hertz, thanks for this brilliant mix. I’ll be playing this during many journeys. And make everyone around me aware of this mix too (if they are interested ofcourse).

The other day at work I was kind of bored. Not saying I had nothing to do, but I was bored in my mind, I was missing music. I went on Soundcloud and went strolling. Looking for something that could ease my mind, And I found a lot of new mixes which I immediately listened to. Several styles went by, but the one that stuck with me was Jumpstyle. And that’s all because of me finding Pat B on Soundcloud. Maybe that’s why I found this mix by someone called Miss Puss (that’s a hilarious pun, you would only understand it if you are Dutch/Belgian).

The mix not only contains Jumpstyle, but also Hardstyle. The mix is divided into two sections, the first obviously being Jumpstyle and the second being focussed on Hardstyle. A nice blend. Also, this was for an event called ‘Qnation Reunie 2015′, which obviously took place 2 years ago, so there’s no need to get hyped up for it. Truth be told, I never heard of the event before, nor the artist who mixed this all together. So this is an introduction mix for me too!

I can say to you that my work day improved! I was bouncing up and down in my office chair, and I loved the mix. The tracklist can only improve my review, the tracks selected by Miss Puss are superb!

On Soundcloud it said that there were 30 tracks, but I came across number 16 which wasn’t in the tracklist. So technically there were only 29 tracks. Yes, I am picky. Sadly I am..

Before I get too picky, let’s focus on the tracks. We’ve all seen them before, heard them before, and now we are about to realise that these tracks have stood the test of time. And how quickly time does fly by! Some tracks are 10+ years old! Can you believe it? I simply can’t. It’s a shame that this sound hasn’t emerged in tracks more often, Jumpstyle disappeared and Hardstyle evolved into this rougher sound. Which sound do I prefer more? The older sound ofcourse.

Miss Puss has picked a lot of amazing records, and a few quirky ones, like ‘Opzij Die Slip’ (move your panties aside), ‘This Is Porno’, etc. A nice combination, starting off with a ‘slower’ style, and ending a tad rougher. Which track in this mix made me bounce the hardest at work? ‘Technoboy – Rage. Simple. A quality track, truth be told. A wicked build-up, and when the beat kicks in, there’s no way of stopping you moving/bouncing/raving.

A few tracks are just too weird for me, like ‘Forever Young’, ‘Acid Bitch’, and ‘Fck Me I Am Famous’. I can still listen to them, but I wouldn’t bounce more when these are played.

Miss Puss’s mix is quality. Even though it’s 2 years old, you can still appreciate it, and the older tracks she has picked. Is it just me, or is Jumpstyle slowely coming back? Maybe in disguise (as part of Freestyle)? People are really craving for it to make a return. With a mix like this you will be back in the early 00s, jumping like no-other!
