When a title of a mix(tape) is all in capitals, it must mean it’s fire. I saw this promo video the other week, and I got intrigued. Someone using the word ‘fuck’ so many times, that’s interesting. And also the music in the video was interesting. The name of the person? SPYRO. Yes, you recognise the name, and now there’s no hiding it: he’s after everyone, making sure you get this mixtape and play it out loud, waking up the whole area with his new sound. What does he call his new sound/style? Is it SPYROCore?

Wasn’t he Lethal Theory’s latest signing? And he releases his mix right on time, before the Summer kicks in and people are out and about. People can download this beast right now, and listen to it for months in a row. Why? Because we are the turn generation. If you are not, you are not allowed to download this mix. Read the title, and realise secretly that you are turnt.

Don’t know much about SPYRO, only that he’s made several tracks with Alex Prospect, which I’ve heard in many mixes before. It’s basically his promo mix for this mix that intrigued me a lot. According to the video, he’s in search for a brand new sound, and with this mix he has achieved it. Yes, it’s still UK Hardcore but with a twist. What’s that twist? Don’t have a clue, but it does sound good!

tracklist

17. SPYRO – Mad Ting Mashup (Come With Me)

This mix is fire. And yes, it’s unique. The sound that he makes is unusual. It combines several styles into one. Like Gammer did before, but SPYRO perfected it. There’s still no name to it, but if it’s going to be named EDMCore, let me all warn you: months ago I was the first to come up with that term.

Anyway, SPYRO’s mix is indeed fire, but why so short? I don’t know why this mix is so short, I was really digging it, and then I realised that the mix was over. Only 20 minutes long. Why? Most mixes are at least double the length, but maybe it’s to tease people even more, getting hyped up for the sensation that is SPYRO.

What’s the biggest track in this mix? ‘Drop It Low’. Which is the ‘not the best track in this mix’? ‘Up 2 No Good’. Really like the original too much.

The speed at which these tunes hit you is unreal. 20 minutes of SPYRO madness. Have you listened to this mix already? You haven’t? Check it out on Soundcloud, it’s worth all the hype around it. Even me, TCD, got hooked on the ride, and promoted the video on my mainpage. But now the mixtape is out, it’s time for us all to appreciate it. And so should you!

SPYRO. Big mix!

Soundcloud has got hours of fun hidden away from the majority of us. But in all fairness: if you think it’s necessary to listen to everything on Soundcloud, you will be on it 24/7, and you wouldn’t be able to have a life outside of Soundcloud. Thankfully we all just go on Soundcloud and listen to everything in our timeline, but sometimes you need Facebook to guide you to a mix on Soundcloud. One sponsored message grabbed my attention: it was for a promo mix, made by a DJ called D-Lyte, and the mix is called ‘South Coast Business’.

I haven’t heard his name before, so this artist is completely new to me. But after listening to this mix it’s clear to me that he’s one DJ you need to follow. This mix is jam packed with tracks by well known names such as Kurt, Macks Wolf, M-Project, Jakazid, Fracus, and more. But also his own productions can be found in this. Which is a good thing for me, I know now what D-Lyte is capable of. Not just a DJ, also a producer. And representing the South Coast.

Let’s see the tracklist. 15 tracks in 56 minutes. Well, 14 tracks and an intro.

tracklist

01. Ridiculous Intro
02. D-Lyte – Neon Dreams
03. Stormtrooper – Fiyah
04. Liqo & M-Project – Higher
05. Macks Wolf – Orgy Of Terror
06. Xavi BCN, Ruboy & Oscar Elemento – Kyoto (DJ DEPATH & M-Project Remix)
07. The Prototypes – Rocket Guns Blazing
08. D-Lyte & Fracus – Miami Heat
09. D-Lyte – Knuckle Supper
10. DJ Kurt – Muka Puka
11. D-Lyte – Champion
12. DJ Kurt – Party Starter
13. In Effect – Travelling
14. Jakazid – Amnesia
15. D-Lyte & Fracus – Fat Pants

A lot of D-Lyte’s own productions in here, it’s a good introduction to what he’s capable of. Oh, and you also get an extra bonus: some serious scratching skills. Yep, I’ve used four words in that last sentence all starting with the letter ‘s’, that shows how serious I am. The scratching is done beautifully. You are going to dig this mix a lot, unless you don’t like UK Hardcore/Powerstomp.

It’s always good to explore Soundcloud and find new artists, and today’s find is one which grabbed my attention from the first second to the last. A wicked looking picture and an ace mix. Sometimes you see mixes and you think ‘is this going to be any good?’. Well, after hearing those 56 minutes fly by I came to the conclusion that this mix is good and D-Lyte is too! A very interesting mix, which should get you through this dull and boring weekend.

I am impressed. Never heard of D-Lyte before, but have become an instant fan of him. The tracks are good, the mixing skills are good, and the scratching is ‘DJ Sy’ worthy. The track that grabbed my attention the most was DJ Kurt’s ‘Muka Puka’. So extremely catchy, and for a strange reason it made me want a pukka pie.

D-Lyte has made my Sunday better. Thanks for this ace mix, can’t find anyting wrong with it. And that’s why it gets 5 out of 5 stars. It’s obvious why.

The perks of being a reviewer are tremendous. You get sent mixes, t-shirts, CDs, etc. And today I’m going to talk to you about a mix made by MrPanda. Yes, the name might sound familiar, and you’ve guessed it: it’s not the first time this name appears on my website. So you are in for a misleading treat. Why am I saying that? Well, that’s because this is a preview, and the actual mix ain’t being released yet: it will be released on the 11th of February, so keep an eye out for this mix via MrPanda’s Facebook page.

This mix is so exclusive, I completely forgot about it. I do mean it, MrPanda sent me the link, and because I was so busy, I forgot about it. Thankfully he asked me to listen to it, and I’m happy that I did. I’m sorry MrPanda, I truly am. It’s not often (sadly) that I get to listen to previews, so I should embrace them with open arms.

As you all know, I’m a huge fan of diversity. And MrPanda always delivers awesome mixes, not bound to one style or one genre. And in this mix he touches several styles, such as UK Hardcore, Drum & Bass, Freeform and more. Definately worth a listen (once it’s out)….

Diversity is what matters, and it’s what you get in this mix. Yes, the main focus is obviously UK Hardcore, but it turns out it blends in nicely with other styles such as Drum & Bass and Freeform and Powerstomp. And MrPanda knows how to grab your attention.

He used 4 decks (if I am correct) for this mix, and it’s quite impressive. The tracks he has selected are not the easiest tracks to mix together, but it sounds effortlessly. A few tiny mistakes here and there, but it’s really good what the end result is.

There are some slammers in here, some serious dancefloors smashers! ‘Let It Roar’, ‘Party Like Us’, ‘Anything For You’, ‘Killah Sound’, ‘This’, ‘I Can See It’, but my favourite track in this mix … well, there are three:’Give My Love’,  ‘Feeder’ and ‘It’s Gonna Get’.

A couple of tracks aren’t my cup of tea (of coffee, whatever you prefer). But all in all a very entertaining mix, and if you want to hear a really diverse and to be fair, quite sexy mix, you don’t need to look any further. Just like MrPanda on Facebook and on the 11th you will get a notification about this mix being aired on Soundcloud!

Ps. Obviously once it’s been released, I will add it underneath this review. But for now you’ve got to wait!

A couple of weeks ago I was the first to review the latest album being released by Contagious Records, and it was an amazing album to listen to. Progression within the Powerstomp scene can be heard on this album. Quality over quantity, and that’s fair to say about this album. And if you look at who were on the album (artist-wise) you had a few big names : No Sweat, Riko, Chris Fear, Kurt, Joey Riot, and ofcourse the biggest name to come out of the East: M-Project. You all know him and love him, and as always he keeps on making promo mixes for literally everything. A party? Promo mix. A birthday? Promo mix. Had a bath? Promo mix. So obviously he had to do something, to promote the album which has his records on it.

I loved the album, and now you can get a taster of what’s actually on it, if you haven’t bought the album yet. A 33 minute long mix (well, 32 minutes and 9 seconds long, but let’s round it up) with 16 tracks,  all from the album, mixed by the mysterious man himself. Yep, you can expect only snippets from the tracks, not one track is played out long, about 2 minutes max per track. But M-Project is good at that, don’t think that it might disappoint you, because it won’t. And the tracks are really good.

It’s been carefully mixed by the mighty M-Project, so if you are ready to have an amazing Sunday morning, go and press play!

tracklist

01. Kujin-Fu – Breaking (Contagious 170 Mix)
02. Hyper & Electic Beatz – Hands In The Air
03. Jonny El – Ritual
04. Riko vs ACB – Freak On
05. S-WORX & M-Project – Mother F#=ker
06. Chris Fear – Bitches Shake It
07. Kujin-Fu – Ratatata (Contagious 170 Mix)
08. Liqo – Piledriver
09. Kurt vs Psyvex – Time To Fuckin Rock
10. Demize & Bassline Animals – Fuck Dat Hoe
11. No Sweat – Lets Get Down
12. Hyper – Remember The Name
13. Kurt vs Ry-On & Beefy – All Bitches
14. M-Project – Ganjaman
15. Kujin-Fu – Get Back
16. Joey Riot vs Danny R-Core – Ascension

A big tracklist, isn’t it? And I have to say that the music is really, really good! Next level Powerstomp stuff. I really liked the album, but it was a DJ friendly album, so to hear a proper mix for this album just improves everything!

M-Project knows how to produce an amazing mix, and I think I’ve said a billion times before. I don’t need to explain how good he is, or give him bad credit for anything, because there’s nothing wrong with this mix. How can you go wrong with a track like ‘Ritual’ in your mix? You can’t go wrong, you simply can’t. (ps. what a f#=king wicked track, love it to the bone!). Or ‘Piledriver’. Epic, truly epic track.

You still can get this album via the following website: www.djriko.co.uk . Make sure you order one now, unless you don’t love Powerstomp. If you don’t, why are you on here?

This has made my weekend even better. It was already amazing, but now it’s a hundred billion times better. More people should get into Powerstomp. That’s my goal, to persuade as much people as I can. And with promo mixes like this one I will definately get a few new fans into the scene. And also more fans for M-Project. Come on, he deserves it! Epic mix, epic man (or is he not human? can’t tell)….
