The other day I was browsing, as usual, and I came across this mix I haven’t listened to for a long time. Back in the golden days of UKG, when mixtapes were released nearly every week, I downloaded one each week, and DJ E1D’s mixtape was one to listen to. I still have a couple of those mixtapes in my UKG folder, and they date back to 2010 (his ‘ALOT’ mixtapes). 5 years ago I used to listen to UKG nearly every day, and to find E1D’s latest mixtape on Soundcloud made my day. It’s his latest mixtape, volume 21, and it’s a good one.

According to E1D’s Facebook page, he started DJing in 1999 and has played with a lot of big names, including Mistajam, The Wideboys, DJ Luck & MC Neat and more. But to me E1D is mostly known for his awesome mixtapes. Yes, I know the last one I downloaded was 1 years ago, which was a TS7 dedication mix, but still his name represents awesome mixtapes. Is this mix as good as his old ones? Well, we are about to find out.

The older ones I’ve got are filled with Bassline music, and the artists names were are all known to me. This volume has got many unknown names, but does that make the music any less interesting? Not really. So let’s find out which names are unknown to me.

01. B1G PROJ3CT – Bumpy Boots 4
02. Conducta – Summertime
03. Jodo Kast – I Want U
04. Lakotah – Unified
05. TQD – Day & Night (Day Mix)
06. Kokiri – Turn Back Time (Retrospect) (Preditah Remix)
07. Sigala – Easy Love (Sticky Remix)
08. Mikey B & Vital Techniques – Wait
09. Bad Habit feat Leighanna – Fools Love
10. Lojt – Listen Up
11. Mind Of A Dragon – Lost In Eastcote VIP
12. Crown Duels – Sneaky Castro
13. N’n’G – I Keep (Cellardore Refix)
14. Conducta – City Breeze (Flava D Remix)
15. Holy Goof – Bossy
16. Spooky – Bun Fire (Notion Remix)
17. Riddim Commission feat Stush – More Fire
18. Hervé – You Give Me Something (Jay Robinson Remix)
19. Big Narstie – Gas Leak (B Squared Remix)
20. Notion – Crooklyn
21. Joedan – Trampish
22. Madd-Inc feat Frisky Don – Lock Dem Off (Paleface Old Skool Garage Mix)
23. Pavv – The Whistler
24. Yas – Fairytales (TS7 Vocal Mix)

Yes, there were some names in this mix I know, but not many. I haven’t followed the ins- and outs of the UKG scene for a long time, so don’t blame me. But it’s never too late to learn, eh?

A proper mix. As tight as his previous mixes. The music is still as exciting and moving as it was 5 years ago. UKG is timeless, and the music is still very catchy. DJ E1D did an excellent job in making an awesome mix. A proper mix, and if you are loving this a lot, you can also download this via another page, and you get the whole mix split-tracked. Check out DJ E1D’s Soundcloud page for more information.

This has made my day. A huge smile has emerged out of nowhere, knowing that he still makes mixes as awesome as he used to. This will spark my enthusiasm for UKG again, and if I’m honest I should listen to it more often. E1D, thank you for making me fall in love with it again.

A proper mix. Nothing wrong with it at all. E1D, your latest mix has been added to my UKG folder, and I will find those volumes I have missed and add them too. I need more UKG.

TRC is back with a brand new mix, to celebrate the upcoming winter! The temperatures will drop, clothes will be put on, layer on layer, no skin will be visible, and the streets will be covered by snow. The winter is near, and even though we aren’t ready for it, TRC is. He decided to upload a brand new mix, to showcase his strength as a DJ and as a producer. This legendary DJ/producer knows a thing or two about how to make awesome tracks and mixes, and this mix is no exception. Even though most of us hate the winter, I hope it will arrive soon, so we can turn the heating on, take off our clother (not go fully naked ofcourse, don’t want to scare people) and dance the night away. Winter, we are ready.

TRC is a hero. I’ve followed him since the early days of Bassline, and I even bought his album. It was signed by the man himself, and it’s still one of the coolest albums I’ve got, because TRC is very talented when it comes to producing tracks. In this mix he only played two of his own productions, which is a pity, because his tracks are always good. This mix is rather good, because it’s filled with UK Garage/2Step/House tracks. To be honest, this mix doens’t make me think of the winter, it makes me think of the summer, when we were still outside, enjoying the sunshine, and relaxed throughout the summer. This is an excellent mix, exactly what we were after. The tracks he has selected are all good, and carefully mixed together. Summery tunes, lovely vibes you will hear if you press play.

05. Teedra Moses – Just Wanna Be Your Girl (Kaytranada Edition)
06. Sonic Matta feat Projekt 4 – All You Need
07. Oliver $ & Jimi Jules – Pushing On (Tchami Remix)
08. Huxley & Shenoda – Premier (Sonny Fodera Remix)
09. TRC – Round 3
10. Sam Smith – I’m Not The Only One (Armand van Helden Remix)
11. DJ Paleface feat Victor Reid & Mark Wright – Come To Me
12. DJ Q – Ordinary People (2Step Remix)
13. Jonas Rathsman – Skepparkrans
14. Billon – Special (Dub)
15. Lovebug – Resonance (MNEK Remix)

Amazing tracklist, it made me move from left to right (on my chair).

This is one extraordinary mix. Not really a winter mix, more a summer mix, but who cares? You can press play whenever you want, and it will immediately take you to Ibiza, or another place where it’s hot. TRC has selected 15 amazing tracks, breathtakingly beautiful. So gorgeous, this will brighten up your day. From the first to the last track it’s a rollercoaster ride, you won’t be able to sit still.

TRC has selected 15 awesome tracks, and they all work well, if mixed together properly, and that’s exactly what he has done. The end product is a mix TRC is proud of. And so are we. Make sure you download this right now, because it will change your life. Such a good mix, so many feel good tracks are mixed together , there will be a huge smile on your face for at least a day.

Fantastic mix. TRC is a boss. Don’t believe me? Download this and listen to it yourself.

It’s been quite some time since I last heard and reviewed a DJ Q mix, it must have been at least a year ago! The world wide web offers everything for us music lovers, and after browsing for minutes (not hours), I found an old mix, made by DJ Q, a mix he made for Blast back in 2012. This was a promo mix for an event which was held on the 7th of December 2012, and it’s a free download, so if you were looking for an excellent mix filled with Bassline and 4×4 tunes, don’t look no further, this is the mix you were looking for! It’s made by DJ Q for God’s sake!

DJ Q is a legend. A world famous DJ and producer who has inspired many up and coming artists, and he gave us hours of excellent music when he had his own show on BBC Radio 1, Back in 2004 he was given the opportunity to showcase his strength, and immediately became the youngest DJ at 1Xtra, hosting his own show for many years. He changed radio stations and now he’s a resident DJ on Ministry Of Sound Radio, with his monthly show. This man did not just play live on the air, he also played all over the world, from Russia to America, from the Netherlands to Italy, he has seen the world and played in front of thousands of people. He also releases amazing tunes, and his most famous track ever (alongside MC Bonez) hit the UK charts back in 2008, the track I’m talking about is ‘You Wot’.

After discovering Bassline music back in 2008, I looked on the web for music, and was drawn towards DJ Q’s radio show on BBC 1Xtra. His shows always entertained me a lot, and from that moment on I became addicted to DJ Q. Not like a drug addict, but more like a music freak. He gave Bassline music a platform, and people seemed to love his enthusiasm and passion for the music. The fans reaction to his music inspired him to release his debut album back in 2013,  called ‘Ineffable’, which received mixed reviews. Maybe it’s a review I might do in the near future (if there are still copies left?)? This man has given his all to the UK Garage scene, and when the people at Blast asked him to make a promo mix, they didn’t knew that he was going to send them a fanf**kingtastic mix back! The result is astonishing, beautiful from the beginning to the end. From oldskool Bassline tunes to brandspanking new tunes to his own productions, it’s all in here. (when I say brandspanking new… it was new back in 2012, now it’s 2 years old).

06. Julio Bashmore – Au Seve
07. Tulisa – Sight Of You (TS7 Remix)
08. Burgaboy – You’re Gonna Love Me

The tracklist is gorgeous. The perfect mix to start your weekend with, isn’t it? Yes, I know the mix is 2 years old, but who cares? Not me. Just press download, and spread the word, love the music. Praise the legend for his passion and enthusiasm, because it’s quite addictive. This mix makes me want to dig out a few old UK Garage CDs and wake up the whole neighbourhood. Why? Because I can.

The people at Blast didn’t knew they would receive such an excellent mix. The quality is immense, tune after tune. There’s no way of stopping DJ Q, when he’s behind the decks. The mix is flawless, and diverse as well. From calm and emotional tunes to the darker stuff, bass filled tunes, this mix has got everything.

DJ Q is a legend, and he knows it. This mix is yet another reason why we think that he’s UKG’s finest DJ. So damn good, it’s really hard to pick a favourite track because he has chosen only the finest tunes out there (back in 2012), and the result is beautiful. I simply can’t pick one track, because this whole mix is just too damn good. An excellent mix, probably DJ Q’s finest mix.

Excellent mix made by DJ Q. He never disappoints, he never lets us down. Only one score for a wicked mix!
